I'd say, go for the Cap 616 costume for the movie. It should work. Some of the best superhero costumes stayed largely true to their original designs- like Superman, Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Batman (1989-1998 films) and the Flash. Even the two Cap suits for Brown and Salinger were largely good, so there's no real need to stray from the origins. The wings may be an issue for some, but if they get it right, it should make the costume to use on set. Let's not imagine how funny the wings look- nobody seemed to laugh at Batman's horns ever, nor at Superman's jocks-on-pants.
I'd still push for my design, versions of which appear on the gallery, but the 616 design still looks good with minimal or no modification, even without the scales on the shirt. While Cap is a franchise for the faithful fans, even people outside that group seem to identify Cap by that uniform from the comics. Give it a go, it's worth it.
