World War 1 (see my other topic on WWI) was the birth of modern war. Which lead to more and more modernized and powerful weapons and violent wars in entire mankind.
World War II
The worst war with death toll over 50 million.

Vietnam/Korea
HELL.

The reason I'm posting this topic is because there is a lot of war that is tearing this ONE AND ONLY PLANET THAT CAN HOLD HUMAN LIFE.
There are the constants wars in:
Middle East (Iraq Afghanistan)
The wars in Africa (Liberia, Rwanda, Somalia)
And...
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA-
Yes, there is not an actual war within guns and atrillery. BUT the constant disturbing fire fights with the gangs. The most important is the Democrats and Republicans fighting..escpically the health care bill. Those 2 parties are TEARING EACH OTHER APART-Leaving us the ones suffering.

So
Why are we in warfare? Why is there people thinking that they deserve more? Why is that once there is peace...there is war? And why do people hate?

IF we don't solve this peacefully, we'll go into a global warfare...other words World War III.
SO, don't let your friends kids, or friends or whatever ever know that we're LUCKY. BUT, if Rebulicans and Democrats keep eating at each other, we'll end up in more war.

So stop this war, stop the fighting, JUST STOP IT DAMN IT!!!!
WE ARE TEARING THIS WORLD APART.
This shows proof-

What makes you think that Republicans and Democrats are the problem? Last time I checked, WW1 and 2 were German products and Americans only jumped into them when Europe went into chaos. The problem is the fallen nature of man which can flare up and cause disaster anywhere. We as a human race are envious, arrogant, prideful, lustful, and have always been such since the beginning of mankind. Being that we are not a perfect people, we will be prone to wars because we will always fail to learn from the past. otherwise there would have been only one war and we would have learned from it a long time ago. Think of it like this, you learned that touching a hot stove was bad, but your children may or may not have learned that yet and will be curious about why he/she shouldn't touch it. Before long the child touches the stove and after an agonizing day of having a burnt hand, he/she learns the lesson.  Harsh lessons learned are made in blood soon forgotten after a generation or two. You can only advise so much.

A world without wars is probably a world wide dictatorship waiting to happen. In that case you will probably be craving a war as soon as possible or be so self consumed into whatever the world leader has to offer that you forget all the liberties you lost.

I remind myself of this fantastic quote from Star Wars Revenge of the Sith:

"Padmé: [to Bail Organa] So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

Those were 2 differnt subjects- if you watch like Fox news (i watch a couple of minutes of it) its constant war with words, and you can tell by the expressions on there face that they wanna punch them out until they agree. Yet again if we only have 1 political party, it'll fall apart. But still its like the health care bill plan, do you here the war with words and stuff?

I KNOW THE WW2 WAS NAZIS FAULT. 2 differnt subjects.

Look the point is, Every country goes through problems, (Cambodia, Vietnam, liberia)...but now there is so much warfare and government currpotion (not talkin' about the US) and power/money, the soil that people were born on is being destryoed.

Reliance on natural rescourses, fear, greed, economic and personal agenda. These are the reasons wars are started and fought. Some wars we have been justified in fighting, some we have not. The real tragedy of war is that lessons are seemingly never learned. Everyone has their own opinions on these matters but at the end of the day it is what it is and it's not going to change anytime soon. In short, why does anyone fight wars? Human nature. Like it or not, this is the way it's been since the dawn of time. It always will be.

Sheildbearer gave a great quote from Star Wars. The one movie quote iv'e always thought was brilliant came from iron Man.

"Peace means having a bigger stick than the other guy."

How true. And the problem is that there's always a bigger stick to be found.

Depending on how you assess these things, our modern world even with it's wars and publicized criminal battles is actually far less violent than it once was.

Simply put, we keep better track of people now, so when they meet a violent end, we're far more aware of it now.

The wars in Iraq and Afgahnistan have had incredibly low military casualties, and although there have been a stark number of civilian casualties and injuries, I think you will find they too are less than what was experienced in our previous wars.

While criminal turf battles might lead to a number of violent ends in the United Stats, again I think you will find even there the rates of death and injury are on a generally downward trend.

As a general rule, we are solving issues far more peacefully.  For Goodness sake, if you think about the tragedy of errors that lead to the 1st World War, and compare that to modern international resolutions it's kind of horrific that those ideas was once considered normal.

Among criminals as well, once Al Capone realized they all make more money when they work together,  collaberation has been the watch word for most such enterprises.  Certianly you get violence and turf battles still, but nothing like what you had during prohibition, or before.

What we do have now, is a mass media that keeps us painfully aware of every child lost, every cop shot, and every tension on the global stage.  If you think about it, the fact that the media has the time to report on all these things suggests their rareity.

If cops were getting shot every day you couldn't cover them all.  If dozens of soldiers died each day the reading of their names would become a dull buzz in the background.

That we have time to react, and be horrified by our world shows how much more peaceful of a world we live in today.

There is always room for improvment but by and large, we are on the right track.

One of my favorite songs is Eve of Destruction written by P.F. Stone in 1965.  If you listen to that song and the list of horrors that the world faced in those days, it's easy to understand why the singer berates his friend for not believeing they were on the eve of destruction.  That said, the song was written over a generation ago (fourty years), and even if you say things are no better, they certainly are no worse, and we are no closer to the eve of destruction than we were fourty five years prior.

The fact is, humans are generally speaking not as dumb as people think.  We do what is in our own best interest, sure, but what is in our own best interest ususally means working out our differneces with others.  To allow a challange to rise to a conflict is to risk harm even if you are likely to win, as such most humans will work to avoid conflict at all costs.  There will always be a few who see themselves as having nothing to lose, but with the expansion of media and human awareness of what is out there, such groups become smaller and smaller.

Even now, for all the vitriol and rhetoric against the president (or a few years ago when just as much vitriol and rhetoric was directed against the former president) the chances of it evolving into open conflict are all but zero.  People are mad, but they know there is a system for dealing with their anger in a peaceful way.  And so they do, and so they are.

Yes before 2000 no political process in the world ever had more 2 party's strongly opposed to each other.

Before 2000, the Democrats and Republicans skipped in the park together picking posies.

The Health Care debate isn't a war, it's politics.  The US was never united.  Grow up.

As for the substantive topic...yeah sure.
