What are the biggest challenges for the world? How can they be solved? Who has to take the lead?

Now that is a loaded question.
You'd probably have to categorize the list then go from there.
What worries you most may be a good lead into the discussion.

I feel that one of the biggest challenges facing the earth today was mcdonald's decision to stop using the syrofoam boxes to house their big macs and switch to the more eco friendly cardboard. Personally, i feel that this has affected the taste of the mac. it was a worldwide switch and it's still a problem.

solution: bring back the foam! i don't give a #$@% if it's bad for the environment. If captain planet has an issue with it, i'll wedgie his red looms and shave off his big green mullet! eating a delicious syrofoam tainted big mac while i do it.

the biggest challenge facing this world? Most people think Captain America's fight for freedom and the American way is outdated, that his ideals are a relice of a bygone era.

Trying to convince them Cap is as relevant today as he ever was is a real challenge.

Well, the chocolate could be tampered with but the sealed stuff just tastes funny.

Cap will never be irrelevant to me because he has always appealed to me the same way characters like batman, daredevil and the punisher have. No real super powers to speak of. They get shot, stabbed, beat the hell up from time to time and they all battle serious mental instability on one level or another. I can relate to them more as people. It's true people find cap's ideals outdated and lame but Cap himself has had serious issues with his own morals in the modern age. They killed cap in the civil war because they felt he was irrelevant. they were wrong and people told em they were. So much so they cooked up some lame ass story to bring him back. Iv'e taken a lot of flack for this but i thought steve roger's death was very well thought out and very well done. I really wish they would have left him dead and let bucky continue the legacy indefinatly. I feel he is a bad ass cap and more fitting in our modern times.

"They killed cap in the civil war because they felt he was irrelevant. they were wrong and people told em they were. So much so they cooked up some lame ass story to bring him back."

Um, only partially right. While Brubaker has said Cap doesn't need to find America, America needs to find Cap and, IMO, the story to bring him back was lame (A time bullet? Really??), it was part of the story to bring him back all along. It was only suppose to last a few issues but then it worked well with the timing of CIVIL WAR. Really, they killed Cap to tell a compelling story.

Also, on a side note, anyone ever notice the theme of REBIRTH with Captain America? A Rebirth from scrawny blonde guy to super soldier in 1941. From soldier to school teacher post WWII. Back from the dead in Avengers #4. A rebirth with his "death" during the Steranko run. A rebirth from Cap to Nomad. From Cap to the Captain. From Nomad to Cap. From the Captain to Cap again. A rebirth from the end of Gruenwald's run to Waid's. From Cap #25 to Reborn. It is a running theme.

Have I sidetracked from the thread? Okay, here's what I got...

What are the biggest challenges for the world?

Intolerance, ignorance, and extremism.

How can they be solved?

Patience, time, and education.

Who has to take the lead?

Like-minded people who recognize what intolerance, ignorance, and extremism is when they see it.
