I guess the actual interview occurred a while back but this is the first time it's been released.

The interview with J.J. is very good. Its telling in a lot of ways what his goals are. It's just the last minute or so of the interview where I think he lacks the whole view when discussing the man wearing the flag. Yes he should embody the ideals of this nation, but then so does our flag in so many ways.I can remember a time when people from other countries would see our flag and it gave them hopes and dreams of either living here or having their own country adopt and use all the freedoms that this nation was founded on. I have always put my faith in the people of this country and not so much in the temporary so-called leaders ie the president, congress etc. We need to get back to being a nation where the elected officials are what they were meant to be, which is public servants and not so self serving as to go against the constitution and the will of the people.Sorry if I strayed from the path of this interview but I feel this has been the greatest nation on Earth and can be so again. I do NOT need a president who feels the need to apologise for me or my fellow people. We as Americans should always be proud of what our country was based on and what it truly stands for and not the words of some self serving profiteers.

Exactly how does a flag embody the ideals of our nation?  I mean yes it is a symbol of our nation, and out nation's ideals are a part of that, but the flag itself doesn't embody anything the way an actual person might.

As far as the political rant, for those on the other side of the spectrum, Patriotism is having to say your sorry, so it's really a non starter there.

Patiotism, like the flag can be interpreted many ways, but the core tennants of American Values, which is Freedom, Equality and Opportunity are a little more concrete.

A being can embody Freedom, Equality and Opportunity which I think Steve Rogers does, it's hard to say that about a Costume or a Flag.  Osborn wears the Flag as well, but he in no way embodies what Steve did.

Matches, The best answer I can give is for you to talk to just about any of our vets who have served during wartime. Many could simply look at the flag and they would see in it their home and loved ones and the way of life that we have that they were out there defending. Many more died to make sure this flag and what it represents did not die. Yes America is made of Ideals, Freedom, Equality for all Opportunity and the Pursuit of Happiness. I will never agree that Patriotism is having to say your sorry as it is defined as being a love for or a devotion to one's country.
I do agree that physical symbols are strong as well. Look at the one for Uncle Sam. He's been around longer than I can even guess.

Matches, What do we, as a country, have to say we are sorry for to any foreign nation?  Are we sorry for staining their soil with the blood of our patriots who died fighting for and defending them?  Should we be apologetic for being the first to respond to any and all natural disasters around the world to lend a helping hand?
I say NO !
Let's get real. If it wasn't for the USA this damn planet would have imploded a long time ago.

Our Flag is a symbol of strength and good but it is being diminished on a daily basis by our "tele-prompter" president and the left wing loonies who think it's okay to push their liberal agendas and weaken our nation in the eyes of the world.

Well...as to the vets, yes, the Flag is a symbol, that symbol however is not inherint in the flag itself, the flag no more means their home and family than it means Exxon Mobile.  The Flag flies over both, and those vets fought to protect both.

As to what this country has to appologize for, how about nearly two centuries of arpathide, and support of genocidal dictators. Not that we didn't have reasons for both, the ends justifying the means afterall, but when calmer heads prevail perhaps the nation does need to recognize our own failings.

America has done great things, and will do even more great things in the future, but that is no excuse to ignore it's failings, infact a true patriot might say it is cause for greater examination of them.

To those whom the most is given, the most is expected.  Most people in the world aren't granted the freedom to take their government to task for it's failings.  How sad it would be if our patriotism made us unable to do so, in this the freest nation on the planet?
