Captain America Message Board / Captain America Message Board / Captain America Movie / Marvel to cast Captain America within 2 weeks
Posted:  06 Feb 2010 20:44
I hope so! I'd be happy with A) a good actor, B) an actor in his 20s, and C) an American citizen, but I'd settle for A&B with a guy like Sam Worthington from Avatar.

Here's the story:

The First Avenger: Captain America director Joe Johnston told SCI FI Wire that they'll have their Captain America very soon:

"We need to cast it soon," Johnston said. "We have a very short list, but we're still juggling actors here. I'd say within the next couple of weeks we'll have ourselves a Captain America, I hope."

He added that the movie is expected to start shooting at the end of June. He said, "We're getting ready to go to the U.K., it looks like." You can read more of the interview here!

The First Avenger: Captain America is scheduled for a July 22, 2011 release.

As long as it's someone with a 'presence', physically fit, can act, can orate good lines, and someone that'll lead and that others would follow into war, it'll be a good Captain America movie.
I just want people that knows how to make good movies, to put some effort, thought and time into this Cap movie, and not come out with a cheesy, low-budget, B-movie-level effort to cash in on the Superhero hype movement.

In other words... Anybody except Channing Tatum!  He could fit the part, but can't act to save his life!!!!

Leo or Eackheart.
Before you say anything, think about it, Eackheart would be great, picutre him in Cap's costume and voice, same with Leo.
But...it's not up to me, so Johnston will pick someone different, maybe even suprise like Nolan did. I CAN'T TAKE DA SUSPENSE!!!

Tatum actually acted fairly well alongside Shia LaBouf in an indy film called "A guid to recognizing your saints," starring Robert Downey Jr.

He does fit the role, but since he's already in GI Joe and some other new "Dear John" flick, I think he's safely out of the mix for Cap.

I hear some WB actors are up for it. I just hope they get a guy that's a credible military leader for the likes of Sam Jackson, Downey Jr., Ed Norton and the guy that's playing Thor. Otherwise, the whole thing falls apart.

I am personally hoping for Aaron Eckhart.  He is a bit older, but standing next to Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth it would be good for him not to have a baby face.  His strong chin and heroic voice from The Dark Knight helps too.  I can get over the CG they would use to make him look young and puny.  They did alright by RDJ in Iron Man flashbacks.

Hey guys, new here.

I'm hoping for a new face. I'm sure with all the people in the world and with how there are so many white males out there trying to make it in the industry, there's got to be someone out there who can look a good "Steve Rogers".

I just hope he can act.
