Captain America Message Board / Captain America Message Board / Other Superheroes / Should their be another 'Punisher' reboot? Should their be a 'Spider-Man' reboot?

First off; Punisher.
We all know there has been 3 Punisher movies all of them a different story, different characters.
1989:
I've seen parts of it, not a lot, but this basically is a good movie from what I've seen, but it has nothing to do with the actual Punisher expect vengeance...(or punishment).

2004:
We can all agree that is WAS a pretty good movie, it had a decent storyline, it seemed realistic. I loved it, favorite movie. (Next to Dark Knight

2008:
Terrible, it wasn't event a Punisher movie, it was just of bunch actors that I've NEVER heard of. They relied TOO much of CM. It was just a bunch of mass murdering. Utterly disturbing, nasty, gross, and sickening. Wasn't even realistic, Marvel says it was lowest grossing film in Marvel history.

I would like to see another Punisher reboot with Jane in it. (like the 2004 one, but just a little more violent, not a lot, a little)

Would you like to see a Punisher reboot?

Spider-man:
The first one was great, along with the second. I liked the 3rd, but they sorta dropped the ball on that one.
There was also many others back in 20th century...
ANYWAY, Tobey left, Marvel desperate for another Spidey, so they're doing a reboot.
I'm not looking forward to it, I mean what about the OTHER heroes that actually DESERVE a reboot? **Captain America**
They made too many, TIME TO MOVE ON MARVEL!

Are you looking forward to it? Do you like he idea?

I would like to see another Punisher with TJ.  I liked him in the first one he did years ago.

No to Spiderman.  I don't need to see a Spidey movie about a bunch of teenie boppers in high school.

I'd like a rated R Punisher TV series on cable. It would be kind of like Dexter, but they'd be able to make it just like the comic.

They could do that with a lot of characters but I think series with The Punisher and Moon Knight would work out very good.

Maybe a whole nother series that wouldn't need to be so violent and wouldn't seem as 'super-hero-y' but still get the Marvel brand out there and have a Guardians of the Galaxy show. It could be high quality like Star Trek or Battle Star Galactia or something. Would have a lot of great story arc possibilities.

BTW. I liked Punisher War Zone, or at least the parts with the actual Punisher. The rest of the actors were very over the top. Except for Colin Salmon. He was fine. I liked Ray Stevenson's cold hard Punisher. That's how he's supposed to be.

I agree that we should give Spidey a rest, even though I really do like Spider-Man. Spidey's already got three films and he doesn't need another anytime soon. Besides, from what I heard about it already, that they will be focusing on the "Ultimate" storyline and more about his high school problems than crime fighting, I became even more doubtful about this Spider-Man reboot being any good.

No. I think Marvel should start focusing on making movies on characters who haven't made it to the big screen yet, like the Sub-Mariner, Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Ka-Zar, the Inhumans and Hawkeye.

Punisher TV show, just like Dexter.

Now that Disney has Marvel, they could do a Moon Knight movie or tv show.  MK has elements of Batman, plus the pulp books and radio plays of the 20s and 30s.  Disney could have fun with Inhumans, Nova, the Guardians of the Galaxy and even do something with Power Pack.

Anyone know anything about Strikeforce Moritura?  All about people gaining super powers that'll kill them within a year.  Last I heard someone wanted to make it a tv series called Thousand days.

Ok, bring Jane back but how about put him in the new Spider-man movie.

I really wish they'd not reboot Spider-man, but just come up with a great story. They've only told 3. Is that all they can come up with before starting all over again? I have a tendency to enjoy TV and movie characters better if the same actor sticks with it as long as possible. Gives you better identification with the character. Like Christopher Reeve and Superman go hand in hand. Tobey and Spidey do too.

And about violence I love violence, but not grose gory violence. It's not necessary, and in my opinion if you want to see someone's insides you are either a doctor or a whack job. Comic book adventure type violence is why I go to see movies, and obviously most people must feel the same way because those kinds of movies usually around pg 13 score the biggest dough.

Moonknight would defintely make a great move, like Dark Knight.
I want to see a Punisher series on TV, it would make a great season.
There would have to be a Cap movie first before Namor, you know the Invaders...
Dr. Strange had a reboot as an animated movie, but I think it would be cool to see him on da big screen!

I was thinking they could throw Namor in the Captain America and Avengers movie, since he is the one actually causes Iron Man, Thor, and Giant-Man to find Cap. And then they could possibly make a spin-off about him.

Depends on the Cap storyline, if it has Bucky and them, then they should. I think there should be a spinoff for Namor after the Avegers, hopefully they'll put him in the Avengers. Then after release, people will be a little more familar with him.

I actually enjoyed War Zone more that the previous Punisher films, but I think it's time to give the character a rest for a bit. Like others have said, that money could be better spent on a decent Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, or Moon Knight film.

Latest news and rumors, Marvel is toying around with screen versions of Dazzler, Power Pack, Ka-zar and Spider woman.  They don't have to spend a lot to make these movies, so they can be profitable.

Ka-zar,  a CGI sable-tooth tiger and Shanna the She devil, would be enough for me to see this at the theatre.
Dazzler, if they have a very talented singer and actress, ...wait, there's Taylor Swift.  Swift as Dazzler, ...check out her appearance on Saturday night live.
Power Pack, ...when I'm babysitting.
Spider woman, ...have to have a hot chick in spandex.

Moon Knight would be great, but focus on the elements that aren't like Batman so people don't few screwed. Maybe like his womanizing ways, physical pain, and perhaps that Werewolf-by-Night character. It would be like Batman mixed with Underworld, it would rock.

Perhaps leave out the Mooncopter idea, (but the owl plane kinda worked in Watchmen).

*update the whole multiple personality part would kick in great too!

I think the spiderman movies were great. I would have enjoyed another with carnage but If maguire is done, then let them be. This is always the problem. Something makes money and they have to drive it into the ground like the SAW movies. Enough with the greed. I say leave spidey be.

The Punisher. I actually enjoyed and disliked all three films for very different reasons. Iv'e taken a lot of sh*t for this but IMO I feel lundgren actually captured the psycosis of the character best. I also enjoyed the realism of the first film. If the punisher were real, i would think that would be how he was. Filthy, hiding in a sewer tunnel to avoid capture, being tormented by nightmares ect.. it was totally believable. I think people didn't like it for the lack of CANON in the origins and the fact he didn't wear the skull. All good valid reasons for the true fan but it was my favorite of all the movies. Visually, I think stevenson looked the best. He looked dead on a bradstreet painting IMO. However, none of the movies did that great and i think the reason for that is i just don't think there's a large enough mainstream appeal for a punisher movie. I say give up and pack it in with the punisher movies. The third time was NOT a charm and a fourth will prolly be worse. I would however LOOOVE to see a punisher television series. But only if it was rated MA and written properly.

No more reboots, please. While most earlier attempts are not quite Oscar-worthy, they're still fun to watch, and will keep most comic fans happy. We don't want to watch another Spider-Man origin, or Fantastic Four background, or yet another origin of Superman or Batman. We've had enough of all of that. Let's look at something unexplored in the past, or a current comic story arc. There is so much in the comics over the history of those franchises that hasn't been covered in film or television, so let's look at those. There are also so many franchises largely untouched, so let's start with them- we'd love to see something on Black Panther, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Power Man, as well as spin-offs of famous franchises.

I'm taking a lot of heat over Spiderman 3 and Xmen 3 (Good movie but not as great as their #2 or 1, and still somewhat entertaining)

Punisher world made as a movie should be like a cops-and-robbers movie, or a cowboy movie set in a modern city. Good ones would be like Eastwood's Dirty Harry movies (Only 3 of them are good) and some surprising ones like Heat or the first 2 Lethal Weapon movies.
If you found Lundren's Punisher movie entertaining, fine, but that mopey character and drab colors and look just wasn't watchable and entertaining for me. I first saw it as a video rental, then later on late night tv a second time, but kept flipping channels to other shows, so it didn't hold my interest.

Marvel should wait until the general public develop a trend for cops-and-robbers movies and then come out with a Punisher movie.

I think Fox/Sony should quit producing marvel movies. Not to mention stop making movies of the same characters over and over again.

Agreed. I think there are a lot of other characters with excellent stories that would make great movies.I agree with Arjun. I would LOVE to see a Black Panther movie. The problem is, these characters aren't mainstream enough to sell toys to kids. At the end of the day, that's really what it's all about. Believe it or not, I think the best pieces of film iv'e seen are fan films. Sure you have to wade through a lot of crap but you will find a gem or two. (batman dead end)
