Captain America Message Board / Captain America Message Board / Captain America Movie / Joe Johnston-Director-Good or bad?

Well, I just saw that Joe is evidently cutting his own version of the Wolfman while Universal is bringing in yet another editor to piece together that movie. I seriously think someone is spending a LOT of money and effort to create bad press. It is a FEBRUARY release, for goodness sake! They're acting like its Waterworld...er well, anyway.

This, however, raises my concern at Joe's competence. The trailers look great. I've seen a number of Joe's films and they looked good. But why the trouble with wolfman? And is this type of stuff hindering his prep on Cap?

I'd think he would need to be spending a good amount of time putting the cast together, approving set designs and overseeing costuming and set construction, maybe doing some storyboarding and deciding what special effects he'll need and when. If photog starts in June, he's got five months to nail down all the sets, costumes, cast, script problems etc. Depending on the scope of the film, he might have a 12 week shoot, which allows three months to have a decent teaser out by Christmas and a full trailer by Spring (6 months).

Just seems like a close call. But then, I'm more of the mind to give more than enough time to ward off any disasters.

Points well taken.   Not sure what the problem is with Wolfman, other than they want to stay true to the original.  If that's the case, why are you using CGI and not Rick Baker??

Anyhow, I agree with your assessment.   Again, if they cast the movie correctly, that will help big time (and help calm alot of fears regarding the rest of the production), but they do need a good paced story in order for this to work.  As I stated in other posts, they can't afford to flub this thing up.  Especially with the promise of Thor, Iron Man 2 and Green Lantern being stellar movies.  That's just me.
