I was just on Marvel's page looking at the schedule. Cap 602 will be out on the 20th Jan. & Reborn 6 will be out on the 27th Jan. (FINALLY).I was reading the details for Cap 602. Here's how it reads: The monthly CAPTAIN AMERICA returns with a bang! Where has the Captain America from the '50s been the past few months, and what part of our modern world has welcomed him? And what will Steve and Bucky do when an old enemy tries to become a revolutionary? TWO AMERICAS begins here! By best-selling writer Ed Brubaker with art by Luke Ross. Plus, the start of a Second Bonus Feature - NOMAD by Sean McKeever and David Baldeon! Now I'm wondering, are we still going to get our 24 pages of Cap story or are we losing some pages to have Nomad jammed down our throats. I just feel that Brubaker & his various great artists have set a high standard on this title and feel that includung this other story in the book could lower fan, i.e. Marvel bucks for the book, especially in this day and age of the $3.99 comic book. Also I looked up David Balden and was very unimpressed with his style.

Interesting....thanks for the info
I'm hoping for extra pages here with the Nomad story included.
Probably won't happen though....

I've been getting the McKeever NOMAD mini and it is very "meh". If it is the same artist as the mini, it will be a bit of a mish-mash of styles. The Bru part will have that darker art with a more adult theme while the Nomad mini thus far seems to be aimed at appealing to the younger crowd (teen rebellion, rebelling against authority, high school angst).

I don't think, long term, that this will last. It might be more to compete with DC whom also took the $3.99 jump but gave the readers backup stories for their extra buck. My worry is, for both Marvel and DC, is that after a year, they will drop all books back to 32 pages but keep the price at $3.99.

Now I love Cap and probably will always buy the book but the $4 comic book is killing their market for any new readers and just smacks of squeezing more money from the hardcore readers (i.e.-not expanding the market but just wringing more money from their already shrinking base).

I've already cut back on the number of titles I buy and won't try any new comics other than the titles I know I will like. So I'll always buy my comics, only less of them. And I do get a good discount through mail order. But after going into Barnes & Nobles yesterday and seeing some rather nice art books knocked down in price to $7-$15, it is hard to justify $4 for 32-42 pages as a good value.
