Captain America Message Board / Captain America Message Board / Miscellaneous Captain America Discussion / Cap Displays??

Hey guys,
If anybody has photos of their Cap Comics on display (or any other comics for that matter) can you post some photos of how you display them?  I am looking to turn my basement into a Cap shrine.  My wife isn't thrilled about this, but supportive. I won this battle.
Anyway, I'm trying to find the best way to display my comics on the wall.  The best frames I've found seem to be from Frameitagainsam.com.  If anybody else has some good frames can you post some photos of how they look on the wall?  Any other creative and classy ways of displaying would be cool to see also.
I'd like to see some photos of your display rooms.  It will help me to convince my wife that this will look good and not cheesy.

   Thanks guys

A local comic shop here in California has some frames in stock. (Lee's Comics)
http://www.lcomics.com/

Maybe I will have to buy one to try it out.
It looks like this one might break easy, not sure of the real quality til I have it in hand.
Here is Lee himself talking about it, this is taken from his blog.......

COMIC BOOK SHOWCASE
Here's a neat product, new to Lee's. It's an easy and elegant way to display your favorite comics. It's called a Comic Book Showcase, and is made by the BCW company. The top part is clear plastic. You snap it off, insert your comic in the well, and snap it back on. There is a built-in handle for hanging. It comes in Current and Silver Age size, and sells for $7.95

Frameitagain is where I will bu from. I like the fact you can get them up to quadruple frames. Good for a few SS books or sketch covers.

Theres a thread on the CGC boards called "Got a comic room showcase it here". Start from the 1st page. There are some really nice rooms with glass display cases and stuff. Lots of info on where to get stuff also.

Holy Crap, 194 pages to look though!?!?
It's gonna take me some time to go though all that, LOL!
I did see these cool shelves there.
It seems one of the board members makes em for pretty cheap to display comics.
I thought I would post a few pics to add to this topic....

Oh, there are some really nice Geek Caves out there. We post pictures of them on occasion on the Comic Geek Speak forums as well. I'm in the process of doing mine but, with limited space, I can't fully display the Cap stuff and have went with showing off my art books and trades instead.

That Mego collection rocks.  Big geek-out moment for me there.

He is buying multiple Megos there. Sam, I think you found the guy that sniped the Mego Cap car from ya!! lol

All three variants of McFarlane's Spiderman #1 and CGC'd at 9.8 no less? Nice!

I have the one in the middle. What are the other ones called? Is it just Gold and Silver? I forget.

And isn't there another one out there that was a misprint or ultra rare verison that had different color spiders on it or something? I think I remember reading that some where.

Whoa, that's crazy? I see you have that Chromium variant as well.

That's strange Marvel printed so many different covers. Although, that was the early 90's when they were all about trying to get you to buy multiple copies of the same issue. Like the 90's X-men series with the mural layout # 1's.

Oh no no , those Spidey comics in the frames aren't mine at all.
I posted the picture of it to show an example of the triple frame at Gweedo's web site.
Those are Gweedo's comics, not mine.
(I wish I had that frame set up, LOL!)

Oh! oops. Didn't mean to throw you under the bus on that

As for the Chromium version. I want one!

I honestly don't have a very Captain America collection...sooooo...you won't be seeing ANY displays of my so called "collection"...(Only about 11 or 12 figures, all my comics are boxed up, take 'em out when a new comic comes out...)...
Posted:  11 Jan 2010 17:07
All my comics are in boxes, but I do need a Cap poster for my wall. I try to collect as many superhero posters as I can find super cheap.

You said it Tim.

OK So I was going to pick up some frames for my comics, then came up with an idea to scan books and enlarge them at Costco since they are cheap.

Costco 12 X 19 Enlargement = $2.99
Cheap ass frames at Micheals.....
$7.00 for a set of two, + 50% coupon in this weeks paper. So now $3.50 for two ($1.75 per glass frame)

So each of these babies only cost me $4.75 total!
Check it out.....

I really liked that Hawkeye statue. It looked pretty cool. I got to get me one of those.
Posted:  22 Jan 2010 04:22
So space is limited but I do have a little room above the closet and doorway for hanging some stuff. I'm thinking of trying to find those long metal poles that they use to hang action figures and toys from in the stores and hang my Cap figures that are still in the packing from these. Has anyone ever tried this? Will I be making a mess of the wall installing these?
Posted:  23 Jan 2010 03:08
Sam! Did you bring the book to Costco and scan it there? I really want to get a few of these done!!

No they don't scan there, not that I know of anyway.
I scanned the book at home.
Then I went to Costco online, photo department.
http://www.costco.com/PhotoCenter/PhotoCenter.aspx?cat=2781&cm_re ...

I have an online account there, that's where I make my Christmas cards, etc..
So anyway, I upload the scans into my folder and choose what size photos I want.
Then I choose what Costco location I want to pick them up at.
It's ready in an hour at earliest, sometimes a bit longer.
$2.99 a 12 x 18! Cheap!

As for the Batman ones above, those were scanned by me and I cleaned them up as well with a photo software. They were not saved as JPG's, but TIFF's for better quality.
The print came out very well, I could have easily made larger photos of the Batmans, like 20x30 if I wanted to.

I still have these Batman downloads in my online account.
If you are interested let me know which ones you want and the location of your local Costco.
I can order it though my account, and you can pick it up at your local Costco & pay for it on pick up.
8x12 = $1.49
12x18 = $2.99
20x30 = $8.99

If you don't have a good scanner, I can do that for you.
Either that, or I can maybe e-mail the files too you.
They are large, but I can try too see if that will work too.
