Until I find work, my goal of two Golden Age Cap books a year will be on hold.

I'll have to cut back on the monthly comics and EBay purchases as well but eventually get back to.....

More Italian Captain America comics

More Spanish Captain America comics

Work on my UK Pence run of Cap

This year, I would have liked to display my collection more but there just isn't the space. But I would like to go back and start reading the Essentials and Masterworks books I have.

More older stuff try to fill in all the wholes from the 70's in all the Marvel Comics lines if the opportunity arrives to get good deals or I get a lot more money, which in this economy is kind of a dream, but it's a brand new year and it's got to get better sooner or later. I'm optimistic. It's the American way!

Not interested in the Tales of Suspense Captain America run?  Issue 58, Iron Man thought Cap was an imposter and tried to kill him.  Issue 59, the book became 2 stories, Cap and IM.  It ran to 99, where Cap continued the TOS numbering system and Iron man got his own book at #1.  You might find those books reasonably priced and affordable.

Strange Tales 114 (I think), was a 'Try-out' book to see if Cap was good enough for the Marvel world.  Johnny Storm fought Cap at some auto show, it turned out to be an athletic villian called the Acrobat.
There was a Sgt Fury book with a Cap guest appearance.  Mind you I'm refering to Cap's silver age early beginnings, about 10 years after a very short relaunch in 53.

Interested yes, but I do have a few I've gotten reasonably priced in the past and if I find more like that I'll definitely get them.

I should probably work on my Avengers run. Other than that, I got all the regular Cap books all the way back to the Strange Tales try out. So the only thing left (besides new and foreign books) is the Atlas and Golden Age books. And dang they ain't cheap!!!!

Be nice to run into some unknowledgeable garage and yard sellers with stacks of old comics they found in their attics from the 40's and 50's. All the years I've been collecting I'm due to run into this scenario at least once.

This is an awesome thread, I'm gonna have to think about it and come back with a list later.

I think I may have to do the opposite from you guys though and slow down on my collecting this year.

Off the top of my head though........

1. Keep up with the latest Cap releases (comics, figures, statues, etc..)

2. Aquire a few more CGC Signature series books...
   a. Steranko (Cap issues 110, 111, 113, Hulk Annual #1, Nick Fury Shield #4 )
   b. Neal Adams, (Batman  #241, 244, 251, Avengers #93)
   c. Mike Zeck (Secret Wars #1, and a few other classic Cap covers)
   d. George Perez (Avengers Volume 3 #1)

Well I started #1 on my list a little early. I might be done with the collection by February at he rate I'm going. So far I have 193-400. Annuals 3-7,9-13.

If you're looking to build a collection from the ground up, eBay, large collections are the way to go.

Mr. Dell Rusk, got a good start.

Good on Samson with the SS Avengers 4.

I'm looking to finish my collection Cap 100-current

Only 31 regular issues & Annual 1 to go!

Then Tales of Suspense, A few misc. series, odds & ends, start improving my collection. Wouldn't mind getting at least 1 golden age Cap. Kudoos to the guy who's buying 2 per year!

I finished my Cap comic collection about 2 years ago, and oh yes ebay is the way to go.

I bought many many comic "lots" on ebay over a period of a few months, and I always had doubles or triple issues when I combined these lots into my collection. So I just took the doubles from my lots, and resold them on ebay.
Many times I got back more money reselling small lots then I did buying large lots.
In the end, by the time I sold my last auction I probably got my entire collection of Cap comics (100-current) for almost nothing.

So yeah I agree ebay is the way to go, buy a bunch up front, then sell what you don't want.
You never know, depending on the bidding you could get an awesome deal for an entire Cap collection by the time it's all said and done.

Here i would like to ask one thing that in every new year we determine some new goals and make efforts to fulfill them but after some time we forget all things. Why is it happen so.
