I was just looking for some pics to upload to Tim's new Cap user gallery when I noticed I have a few autographed items I wanted to share with you guys.

If you have any autographed items, please post them here. I would love to see & share pictures with everyone here.
I'm always interested in seeing what other cool gems other people have in their Cap collections.

I'll be posting some pics in a bit, gotta give the kids a bath for now...

I have a poster autographed by John Romita Sr, plus a pencil drawing of Cap from him, I still can't find that drawing and the poster is too large for my scanner, a photo would put an ugly flash on the pic. Interested?
Posted:  13 Nov 2009 03:59
Vincent that sounds AWESOME!!!!!
Wow, yes please post pics if you can of both the poster & drawing if you can do so.
John Romita SR. is a true legend!

I did meet him once and got his autograph on a Cap comic book like 8 years ago.
I think he signed issue #193, it was a cover he worked on with Jack Kirby.

A drawing or sketch is a real treat though, wow that just sounds so cool.
I hope one day to get even a quick sketch from him.

I usually don't get many autographs but I did get Joe Rubenstein to autograph a French-Canadian version of one of his John Byrne Cap issues and Gene Colon a Tales of Suspense. Both were signing at the same comic shop last December.

Other than that, lots and lots of Cap stuff but not much signed.

Hey Atomic99, I was at a autograph signing last December as well with both Gene Colan & Rubenstien at a local comic shop.
Are you talking about Lee's Comics!?!??

Haha I see I was beat in posting the Stan Lee pic, LOL!

Yeah this was a real treat to meet the man this year.
Crazy turn of events, made this into a reality.
First I had posted my CGC books up here, which in turn is how I met Dell Rusk who informed me all about the CGC boards and gave me Chandlers information.
(Turns out Chandler was arranging a private signing with Stan at San Diego Comic Con)
Still though, SDCC is a bit far from where I live and I usually can't leave home for that long as I help take care of the kids on the weekends.
Well my wife gets laid off from work, which is really BAD, but....
since she is at home now she offered to watch the kids so I can go meet Stan Lee in San Diego.
(She offered this as an early Christmas gift to me)
So yeah it all worked out, it was a dream come true meeting the "The Man".

To make it all even better, last month I went to the Long Beach comic con and Chandler is there again with Stan!
I've been going to cons for 10 years, with Stan on top of my "want to meet" list.
Never got the opportunity, never met him.
Then in a in a few short months I met him twice! LOL!

Anyways here are some more pics.....

Absolutely!!! Jeff Smith from BONE was signing at Flying Colors Comics up in the East Bay the same day and then Rubenstein, Colon, and Steve Leialoha at Lee's.  A group of us went to both stores, like a comic pub crawl, then to dinner afterwards.

Are you in the Bay Area as well?

Yes I am in the Bay area.
Wow I didn't even know that Jeff Smith was signing that day!
Can't believe I mieed that!

I usually go to Lee's every once in a while when he has his big sales. Are you a regular there?

No and that might have been my first time there. I'm up here in the East Bay and Flying Colors use to be my old store but I got tired of paying full price for those Masterworks so I now shop via mail order and save from 35% to 50%.

I will drop in to Flying Colors from time to time and on Free Comic Book Day as a bunch of us do a Comic Book Crawl and drive around the Bay Area visiting comic shops. Not so much for the free comics because we usually get all the free books after the first 2 places but to celebrate the medium and give each store some of our business. This year, we had about 10 of us and started at Isotope Comics in SF, then two other shops in SF before driving to Lee's, then Black Cat comics in Milpitas, then ending with dinner and the Wolverine movie at the Great Mall.

We're trying to find an event in early December so we can have a holiday dinner. If you know of any signings in the Bay Area then, let me know.

Do you go to Wonder Con at all? Wonder Con, San Diego, and Super con in San Jose in the spring are usually on my list each year.

What grade did you pick up?

Atomic99:

Wow free comic day sounds pretty cool with you guys!
I'm kinda the same way every year, I hit Black Cat in Milpitas, then Lee's, then Treasure Island in Fremont this past year.
Last year I did a few more stores.
Sounds cool how you guys hit a comic movie (Wolverine) at end the day.

As for cons, yeah I'm a regular at Wonder-Con, Super-Con in San Jose, and also Hayward-Con. I never miss those ever.
This year has been a treat because I also did San Diego Comic Con & Long Beach Comic Con as well. Those are not normal for me to go to though, it was a first for me to do the So-Cal cons this year.

I rarely go to comic shops anymore unless there is a sale or I need supplies, or... there is some special series out that I just NEED to pick up. (ahem....REBORN)
When I used to go to comic shops though I went to Lee's, Black Cat, R & K, What's Hot Comics, Comics Conspiracy, & Treasure Island.
Like I said though, I don't really go to the shops anymore unless there is some sale that might be worth going to.
I subscribe by mail to Captain America.

It is a fun day of celebration. We did the same but with the Iron Man movie in San Jose last year. I've never been to Treasure Island or heard of it. How is that one?

Wonder Con is great. We do a dinner at that one as well.
Super Con is great for original artwork and artists and lite on the rest. A good one-day con.
How was Hayward? That just happened and was free, right?
San Diego is a madhouse, isn't it? 4-day passes for next year are already sold out. But, I've found, that San Diego is great for shopping for Timely Captain Americas since, with more dealers, you have more choices.

Oh yeah, Comic Conspiracy is usually another one on the Comic Crawl list although we had to cut it out this year (we ran too long at Lee's with their cheap back issues).

I hear ya! Mail order for me and then I rarely go into a store except for supplies (and I had been buying that 2nd copy of REBORN too, not wanting to wait). Many shops are phasing out their back issues and I already get my new books in the mail so there isn't much of a draw for me unless that have a good selection of back issues.

Real sweet!!
I gotta get me a few of those, they look awesome on the cover.

Totally agree with you about all these cons.
WonderCon I haven't missed since 2001.
Super-Con while small, is really great to get sketches and stuff as the lines are not as long as WonderCon.
Hayward con was free this past year, usually is about $5. They made it free to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the con plus it was the last time at it's current location.
It's alright, but really small and more like a comic/toy flea market. Tables are usually like $35 to sell (compared to $1000+ at WonderCon)
You can usually bargain stuff down there since it is a lot of collectors selling rather then actual stores.
And as for SDCC, yeah I agree a MAD House!!
The lines are insane, still it's pretty awesome to just be there.

Same here!!!
The reason I didn't go to too many stores this past year on Free comic day was because Lee's had a ton of free comics & free bargain comics they were giving out. I spend over 2 hours there and after that was tired so we went home, ha ha!

Stan is doing great!!
He will make 87 years old this year and looks great for his age.
He is still very sharp, and man does he have stories!
He was just telling me about how he just finished filming his part in Iron Man 2, and also talked about how he thought the Disney / Marvel thing was just great for both parties involved.
He is a real sweet guy who just loves t talk and tell stories about old Marvel.

You know I think a person stays healthy and lives longer that stays busy and does stuff they love to do in life.

Absolutely!! Stan's two years older than my Dad and there is a world of difference in what the two are physically able to do. I still see Stan darting through the comic crowds at a brisk pace. At his rate, he just might make 100.

I've gotten some e-mails of people asking about that autographed Cap #100 vintage style poster (1st picture on this thread)
Here is some info on it:

It is not an actual vintage poster, but a reproduction.
You guys can find one here.......
http://asgardpress.com/

It's 20" X 28" and costs $12.95.
They also offer a ton of vintage style repro posters at that price.
(X-Men #1, Spider-Man #1, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Hulk, etc...)
A perfect item to get Stan to sign!
I picked up the Cap #100 poster as well as Amazing Fantasy #15

LOL, so true!
I didn't realize it until I just re-read the topic subject.
