Back in the 70's I think Marvel came out with an album of songs inspried by their heros, I've never seen the album itself but I recall an ad in an old comic advertising it.

I think based on my research that album was Marvel World of Icarus (Icarus was the band), and on it are songs about various marvel characters including Captain America (13th track, for the 13 stripes on the flag no doubt).

It was recently reissued on CD, and haven't found a copy yet.  It looks like it mostly a european relase which might explain why it's hard to find.

The Kinks; Catch Me Now I'm Falling
Jimmy Buffet: Captain America
The band "moe" (WTF?) did a version of Captain America
Styx; Cyclorama

Will Kouf released a rock opera, based around the origin of Captain America

Just to let you know the Will Kouf Rock opera is absolutely awesome.  If you like Cap you'll love listening to it.  Just google, "Captain America Rock Opera" and you'll find a download.  Also, I really like the Jimmy Buffet song and the Styx song.  Rock on!
