Yes but ape crazy and talk of the world but not in a good way.

G4's Attack of the Show featured it, slammed it, and made fun of it the other day. Another comic site I go to pretty much bashed it as well. The race talk throws people for a "huh?" and even more so when edited versions on G4 don't mention the start about being in North Africa. Cap seems to have a bit of a southern twang for a Brooklyn kid.

I think it is well-intentioned but if this was designed as a reel to help Ben Ryan win the Cap movie role, it had the opposite effect.

I really didn't buy it, I felt he was being satirical.  Lacing his speach with comments on Africans and women just screamed 'Pretention', like 'you can't dislike me because I support this'.  I do want Cap to make a speach, but sometimes what he doesn't say matters, or what little he says sticks with us.  Work for the Director and writers.
Notice how big that shield is?  It becomes a nuisance or cumbersome.

As soon as I read the first post, I knew it was going to be more Ben Ryan propaganda.

Mr. Ben Ryan, if you are a fan of Cap....come here and hang out with us. I think it's cool to have another dedicated Cap fan amoung us.
I welcome you to this board, just be yourself, no need to always have a different alias when posting here.

As for your video above, nice attempt. A cool thing to make if you are a Cap fan.
As a fan made video, great job!

However, if I watch your video with the "new" Cap movie in mind, then I just don't buy it.
I don't like your acting, and don't find your Cap believable.

If you are just a fan like us, and wanted to make a little fan movie, then I say congrats on the finished product. It's a cool little fan film.
I just can't stand the thought if you became Cap in the "offical" movie.

Just my opinion.

For a fan movie that you made yourself, it was very good. Just don't quit your day job, LOL!

So finally I get to see Ben Ryan in a Cap costume, with a shield. The acting isn't particularly bad, though I still consider a few actors far better for the role. The Southern accent is another issue- this sounds more like John Walker than Steve Rogers. The big turn-off, however, is the costume- it really looks sloppy. There are several better costumes he can wear, which are on sale, and given his physique, he doesn't need those puffy muscle-chest-muscle-legs costumes. Right now, what he's wearing looks like a clown suit with a Cap theme, and it's a little difficult to sit through someone in that suit giving a long speech.

hi guys so it was horrible? my computer is crap slow here at work. ah guess i didn't miss anything. the thumbnail looked good to me but well thanks

It wasn't horrible.  And you must admire the actor to put himself out there.  If he had better lines, a couple of directors or acting coaches, he might present himself better, project some nuisances, flash a look or stare, a pause or help in his diction, that'll convince me that he's a leader, a fighter, a hero, someone that I'll follow into battle.
Just sit back, watch, learn and see if he has that 'leading man' quality necessary to make a Cap movie a success.

Well as much as I wanted to dislike this guy due to the marketing approach that Ben Ryan has been pushing on his desire to play CAP I actually have to say it wasn't that bad. You have to hand it to Ben Ryan that he is 1. getting himself out there and 2. he has ambition and willing to 'do the work' to get himself out there.

His acting wasn't horrible actually. Most actors never have that much dialogue. He spoke for 10 minutes...in a row. I'm an actor and I went to school for Film, I know that making a movie and acting in it, especially one with that amount of dialogue, is pretty challenging. I don't want him to play CAP (because I want to: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2490189/ ) but I do think if he keeps it up he can definetly have a future as an actor or even director. This is how actors and directors get work. If they can pull it off doing everything themselves, then image how good they would do just focusing on one aspect, like acting or directing, and then having an entire professional crew doing all the other aspects.

I could definetly see Ben Ryan on soaps. That is not a cut down in anyway either. He can obviously memorize a lot of dialogue (or add lib it, if that is what he was doing) and soaps are very heavy with dialogue. I think this guy has an acting future if he wants one and keeps trying to go for it.

From what little I have seen, I'm guessing he doesn't live in LA. I'd move to LA, to be closer to where the acting jobs are and keep it up there. Sooner or later he'll get work. He has a good look, (yes he has a decent CAP look. I agree) potential for acting talent but could get better, but most of all he has desire and if you have that, you can make it in this biz if you stick with it long enough.

I'm not a fan of his, but I do respect his efforts and drive. I wish him the best, but I have to go with me (Wade Harlan) playing CAP.

Maybe I'll do the movies, and he can do a CAP live action TV show?

Semper Fi,

Wade Harlan

I think Arjun said it best - this guy would be much better suited for John Walker/USAgent. He has the Cap "look" but he would have to do something about the accent. Other than that I thought this was a decent fan film.

Didn't think about John Walker. He'd be pretty good for that if he's taller. Can't really tell, and because of that I think he's shorter to average height.

I hated that film, "Big Ben" freakin' sucks.

I'll give him all the credit in the world for throwing himself out there like that. sooooo.... having said that, here's my gripes. I am a huge on fan films. I know from experience that you don't need a lot of money to make them awesome. it does however take EFFORT! I didn't see a lot of that here. bad editing killed it and i'm sorry but the fact that he made NO attempt to build a costume just ruined it for me. a pair of bdu's and a cap t-shirt.. lame! his acting isn't the worse iv'e seen and he definatly looks the part for sure. I actually would be interested in seeing him in a really well done fan film. I applaud his effort but the bad film ruined it for him out of the chute.

Kudos to this guy for putting himself out there for all us fans to praise or pummel. Things I liked: making Cap somewhat of an idealistic rogue akin to Tony Stark who runs against the current for the sake of his new found ideals. Making the stand for Cap in a strategic area that he notices on the ground. Giving him a courage to stand up to an army and try to persuade them to join him.
Things I didn't like: Acting was so-so (but good for a fan). Implausible that all the soldiers would be briefed on his secret ID. Implausible that he would encourage troops to go AWOL to help him--he'd go it alone, not encourage mass mutiny. Unlikely they would dispatch a huge force to bring in one man, particularly if they were preparing for D-day. The costume stunk.

On a (not so) lighter note, has anyone looked at the list of 'related' videos on the Youtube page? That's a very weird list, with barely two Marvel-themed videos, including one more Ben Ryan video.

Good effort, but gee seems to me a bunch of soldiers wouldn't have to be talked into fighting. They usually just take orders. You know. This might have been a better speech for a western.
