It's like criticizing Howard the Duck, 20 years later. That 91 Cap movie came out as a video, limited release in Europe (I have--I think--is a french poster of it or maybe it's german, have to dig it out), and on late night tv, so, it's not a bad money that wasted people's money and time.
Sounds like a comedian using a bad movie to promote himself, just let him rant.
Back in the 70s and 80s, Brando and Nicholson's name got investors to fund the Supes and Bats movie. Cannon pictures funded Supe4, to make money for the Spidey and Cap movie, Supe4 tanked, Cannon went bankrupt, new company 21st Century came out of that and made the Cap movie with whatever money they got, hoping the Batman hype will bring people to the Cap movie. Marvel had no say in the movie, because they gave them money to use Cap. Likewise with the FF and Lundren's Punisher movie. Which led Marvel in the 90s to buy back their properties from movie studios because these things were harming the comics.
The recent movies, Xmen to IronMan, had some influences from Marvel and their comic creators, and the funding they got from Paramount also helped.
Hopefully, Johnson and the PTB had consulted with writers like Waid, Brubaker and even Englehart on the story for the Cap movie, and checked out Kirby's to Epting's art and look for Steve Rogers.
That Cap movie was bad, but at least, they can learn from it and not make the same mistakes that ruined that movie and Cap's image in the non-comic fan world.

I've seen a lot worse. I think it's fun to watch. It's not Superman the movie, or anything but still. You ever go to superherohype.com? Those guys love to bash every movie except for the Dark Knight which apparently is the holy grail of comic book movies. I liked it don't get me wrong, but they practically worship it, and thrash everything else. I hate it when people do nothing but complain about every superhero movie when they are supposed to be superhero fans. You have to wonder have they ever tried to make their own movie? If they did, I wonder if they would think it was so easy. __________________

Dark Knight...lord don`t get me started. This just comes to show that whatever people rant and rave about being aweful is usually great. I haven`t seen the film in question here, but in general critics and snot-nosed idiots who usually bash movies have no clue. People read into movies way too much, love it for what it is. And as for Dark Knight, well, aside from the Joker, that movie sucked. Iron Man was waaayy better. End my angry rant.

I enjoyed the Hulk better than Dark Knight. Lots more rampant destruction. Iron Man was definitely good too. Heck, I love the Fantastic Four movies, and I know that fact would send some of the superherohype guys into orbit. __________________

I liked Dark Knight better than Incredible Hulk, but I liked Iron Man better than Dark Knight.
I thought FF was okay, but it could have been a lot better. That one I hope they do reboot, but I'd like it to be a Marvel reboot not fox. Doctor Doom needs to be WAY more evil, always in his armour, and needs to have a thick accent. They could cast a movement/stunt actor for DOOM and get another actor for his voice.

Latest on FF. Funny you should mention it.
Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has begun overhauling the "Fantastic Four" movie franchise to take the Marvel property beyond the two films already made.
Akiva Goldsman has been hired to oversee the reboot as producer. Michael Green, the co-exec producer of TV's "Heroes" who co-wrote Green Lantern, will write the script for the new Fantastic Four film.
The 2005 Fantastic Four and 2007 sequel "Rise of the Silver Surfer" were directed by Tim Story and starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis. Since the deals for the reboot are just getting made, it is unclear if any of them will return.
Fox controls the "Fantastic Four" movie franchise in perpetuity -- as long as it continues making the films. Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement. __________________

FF requires an Epic storyline, Explorers of the unknown, world danger and all that stuff, ...money and Special effect would be extraordinary. I could only see Zack Snyder's studio (Watchmen, SpyKids) doing a FF movie.
Strazinsky had a script for the Silver Surfer movie, where after FF2, he returns home to battle Galactus to save his planet, and Galactus isn't a gas giant.
That 90s Cap was bad, but at least I sat through and watched it on my VCR. If anyone want movies to criticize and prove Superhero movies are not marketable, check out Shaq's Steel, Superman 3,4, Batman and Robin, and Barry's Catwoman. Mantis and Nightman weren't good tv shows, but they tried to bring superheroes to the tv audience.

I liked Superman 3, and I want to like 4, but I can see what you mean about it. It had a lot of issues. Seemed to be very slow moving and choppy. Like you can take certain scenes from the movie and it would seem like a great movie, but put it all together and it just seems like nothing on it runs together very well.
I think Fantastic Four should keep the same actors. A great storyline of epic proportions would be great. __________________

I think it was issue 150, where Batroc kicked a powerful cosmic being called the Stranger who was already fallen to the floor. Cap grabs Batroc and tells him not to hit someone when he's down.
I just don't see why people should bash the Cap movie when not a lot of people spent a lot of money to see that 90s movie. The movies I mentioned had big name celebrites, big advertisement, and encouraged a large amount of people to go out to the theater to see those movies. Money spent on gas, time, food at the theater (Which is priced higher), and admission, ...especially when you bring a date or your children to these places, or a babysitter for your kids. Mike Myers (Austin Powers) mentioned that when he backed out of the Sprocket movie(Based on his German tv host persona from SNL), then wasted a lot of people's money by making them go see Love Guru.
I figured we can bash the 90s Cap movie because we're Cap fans and we're not trying to hurt Cap in our rants.

Definitely, don't want to say we can't bash movies. Just that I've noticed on some sites all people do is bash every movie ever made. Makes you think they don't like anything. __________________

Like you said, they do it for publicity...
Anyway people go ranting about stuff that shouldn't be ranted on.
Saving Private Ryan is a great movie, then there's a guy that doesn't like it.
People just don't like stufff.
I agree it makes you think: "Then what do you like???"

This comedian is just trying to get a few hits, and is needlessly using this badly-made movie to bring down Cap. But that was the problem. The latest, best-looking, closest-to-cinema movie was badly made. While the comedian's unnecessary criticism of Cap as a hero pops up every now and then, he has highlighted exactly everything wrong with the movie. Everything wrong with the story, some terrible story and character elements (Cap is shown as a thieving carjacker here!), casting and even the video packaging (Cap shown in trouble in the photos, an "all-ages" promotion and a PG-13 advisory on the same page) has been shown up in these segments.
It was, to some groups, a bad movie. It was, frankly, an excessively problem-ridden movie, and every problem was shown up here. But that is no excuse to berate one of the greatest comic superheroes of all time.

I recently rewatched the 1990 movie and it is bad. A shame really since it did have Billy Mumy (a comics fan), Ronny Cox, and Ned Beatty (actors from Deliverence). As I've said before with this movie, Cap should be fighting Fascists not Fashionistas (if you've seen the film, you know what I'm talking about with the villains and the Italian late 80s fashion). I'm convinced that the Red Skull was changed from German to Italian so the film crew could have an Italian vacation while filming.
Here is a challenge: find what you DO like in a bad movie. While an Italian Skull, plastic ears, and a bad script did this movie in, I thought the origin scene for Rogers getting the serum was kinda cool. Fairly accurate accept for the female doctor.
Was there a Stan Lee cameo in this one? He's the Hitchcock of the Marvel movies. __________________

Exactly, like every Marvel movie that came out (Not All) has Stan Lee.
He pretty much set Marvel storylines for life, could make about 30 Spider-Mans off of his comics.
All of these Marvel movies has a little or a lot of lee put into it. Like:
Spider-Man
Captain America
Iron Man
Hulk
Ect.
Then there's this movie.

UPDATE!!!
I was just reading about Cap online and said:
"There's a safe bet the Bucky's going to appear in the movie"
And it was confirmed that it would be set in a beach (Can't remember the name) California.

I always thought the actor who played Speed Racer last year (Emille Hirsch) would make a good Bucky. __________________

Yeah he would...
BUT, the movie has an unlikely chance of coming out...I saw it on the internet, and some magazines.
Said, Captain America, Thor and others have an unlikely chance to come out...
