Something I read on the new Star Trek movie, where they went with relative unknowns, Pine and Quinto to play Kirk and Spock, Stunt Casting would be putting Matt Damon in the Kirk role, to build up interest and internet yak to hype up the movie.
Latest rumor I heard was Matt Damon will be offered the Captain America role (Lifts to be provided for him). Stunt casting. I'm outraged. Ben Affleck was big, playing DD, so Cap has to be slightly bigger and bulkier than DD. Come Avengers movie, he'll be squashed by Downey Jr. and that guy who played George Kirk in Star Trek now offered the Thor role.
The latest IM and Cap confrontation was political differences(Civil war), crazy obsessed vs arrogrant know it all (Armor war2 or 3), but I loved that Tales of Suspense painted one shot in the late 90, where IM had a failing body/Cap with a great body and Cap felt obsolete/IM intouch with the modern world differences. So if Cap shows up, he has to be more muscular and handsome than Downey.
I was hoping for someone a little unfamilar playing Cap, hadsome, tall and muscular, and with a presence (example; walks into a party and everyone sees him or hears him talk).
Other than Cap movie news, Ryan Reynolds will be offered the Green Lantern (Might be too early to break the news) role, plus Deadpool is going to the screen. That guy who played Gambit in that Wolverine movie is going to play John Carter Warlord of Mars, the other than Tarzan book Rice Burrough wrote.
Searching the internet, the Cast of GI Joe is practically giving away the plot and story of the movie in interviews. WTF??? Looks like they're not certain it's a good enough movie to keep secret. I like GI Joe. Bad sign and that is the second sign, the first is an action movie scheduled for August, that time is when weak or not so good summer action movies are released. Jan to Mar when very bad movies are released. Sept to Dec, movies for the Oscar.

Well i did a search of Matt Damn's height and it varies from 5' 10" to 6' 1". I do hope for the sake of the role its actually 6' 1". It'd be kind of ironic having Hugh Jackman ( who has made Wolverine his own) being over 6' feet playing Wolverine who's supposed to be a little over 5', and Cap who's supposed to be over 6' being played by a shorter person.
I also looked up Downey Jr.'s height and he's all of 5' 9".

I'm sure Matt Damon's not going to play CAP. I think he's too old for an origin CAP, too short (he's to closer 5'10" than 6'1". Compare his height to a 6'2" Ben Affleck.) too scrawny etc, etc, etc...

Don't you think stunt casting works for lesser known heroes like Daredevil, Iron man, Green Lantern and Ghost Rider?
To me, Captain America is up there with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, because Cap's a comic book hero thats been around for so long with fans in 4 generations (Besides Spiderman, only because that character had a skyrocketing popularity). Rob Redford playing Superman, would be Redford in tights.
Chris Reeve was perfect for Supe, likewise Brandon Peterson, Welling and Dean Cain. In the 90s, WB once had Nicholas Cage signed up for a Tim Burton's Superman reboot. Thats not Superman, that's Nicholas Cage in that suit. Imagine Lindsay Lohen as Wonder Woman. Batman movies had 4 movies of stunt casting until Bale (Made lots of small movie, not known) was cast for a back-to-basic or treat-the-material-with-respect movie.
Anyway, I hope you're right, Damon won't be cast, because he's very well known for Bourn movies and others, plus I get him mixed up with Walberg from Planet of the apes.

Damon doesn't have the presence for Captain America. At the very least he'd have to put on about 40 pounds of muscle. Jason Bourne was a lean little terrier, the modern fighting man, Steve Rogers was Charles Atlas in the red white and blue.
Whoever gets the role has to be able play humility too. In the comics there's a distinct separation between Steve Rogers, the sensitive quiet artist, and Captain America, star spangled champion of liberty. At heart Cap is still the 1930s boy who can never go home again.

I think stunt casting is a good idea if it gets people interested in the project. Maybe you turn some people off by doing that but it makes for a lot of attention, and in showbiz they always say there's no bad publicity, just publicity. Look at how much Hugh Grant's career took off after he got arrested for soliciting a prostitute.
On a complete different note, I got a small part on "Heroes." It just posted on IMDb yesterday.
Funny thing was that I was just an 'agent' but another actor called my name out in the scene and I became 'Agent Wade.'

Lindsay Lohan, in 2006, went on record that she wanted to play Wonder Woman. Later that year, Paris Hilton said she was going to play Mother Teressa. MT could've came out as one of those limited released art-house independent, I could've missed that. Wonder? LL's name help speed up production of WW? After Xmen2, Britney went on record that she's going to be in Xmen3.
I wonder if Hollywood are using these celebs to promote its projects or these celebs were tying to keep their names in news with stuff like this. I mean, anyone can send an 8 by 10 photo and resume to a casting agent and claim he/she's in that movie.

I think it's probably all done by PR people who are just getting buzz. I'd be interesting to see if Britney and Fox had the same PR firm. I bet they do. Win win for both of them.
