Awesome books Dell Rusk, and oh man oh man that Romita SR is SWEET!!!!
Did you get that from the Chandler private sketch signing?
I got some CGC books coming in soon (hopefully), like around 6 Stan Lee SS's and a couple of Joe Simons, and some Neal Adams.
Nothing high grade though.

Actually I got it off the CGC boards. Couldn't pass it up since it was a Romita sketch of Cap.
Yeah, Cant wait to get my books back from the Simon signings. I also have a Hulk book at CGC signed by Stan Lee, Steranko and Lou Ferrigno.
And of course I definitely cant wait to get my sketch covers back. The Maleev and Trimpe were graded already and they both got 9.8's. Very happy about that. No grade on the Mike Lilly yet! __________________

No, I wish. That is a book on my list to get though. Its actually the cover swipe to that book. Hulk #34. So when I get a chance I will add Romita Jr. and Kaare Andrews to the book.
I am actually leaning towards not getting the old books signed anymore. Unless its a mid grade copy. I had the chance to purchase a Avengers CGC 4.0 signed by Lee and Simon or a CGC 5.0 not signed. Think I'm going to hold off on getting a copy of that book until prices come down a little more. __________________

Ah yes I have that book as well, signed by Romita JR back in 2002. It is NOT CGC SS though.
I used to get a lot of books signed in person at cons years ago, but now I realize I may have just ruined those books value by doing so.
It's ok I guess as I didn't get them signed to resell, it was just for my personal collection.
Still though, if I wanted to turn them into CGC for grading it will hurt me now. If I had known about CGC SS back then I would have saved the trouble of hours in lines back then and kept my comics to be graded higher in the future.
Quote: am actually leaning towards not getting the old books signed anymore. Unless its a mid grade copy.
I'm not following you on this, what's the reason comparing older books signed at mid grade compared to higher grade? Is it because the grade might go down during the signing process?
Quote: I had the chance to purchase a Avengers CGC 4.0 signed by Lee and Simon or a CGC 5.0 not signed. Think I'm going to hold off on getting a copy of that book until prices come down a little more.
Are you talking about Avengers #4?
As for me, I think it might matter on the asking price of either book, was it around the same price for a 4.0 signed book and a 5.0 not signed book?
Either way is great as one option the trouble is saved and is already signed. The other one, well you can ask Chandler to get it signed also.
The only thing is hoping that either creator stays healthy as they are both (Lee & Simon) at an older age now. (Chandlers next signing with Joe is a year away)
Same goes for waiting for the price to drop on the book.(Avengers #4)....
With them casting shortly and expected filming of the movie this summer. Then the movie will be released in the summer of 2011. You can expect Cap comics to reach a peak at that point, and then it will probably start to decline as the movie fad starts to fade by the next year after that. (2012)
Now that being said, if you wait to buy Avengers #4 when the price goes down in 2012, Joe Simon will be around 99? Hopefully he will stay healthy and continue to do signings with Chandler .
Of course, no one knows the future, I could be wrong about comic prices and decreases. (Especially in this economy)
In the past though, with say Spider-Man, Iron Man, & Transformers for example, comic prices usually rise as those movies went main stream with the public. They rose high around movie time, but eventually came down again after the movie fad was over.
My point is though, maybe you should buy now before prices get even higher as the Cap movie gets closer.
Rather then buy later when prices drop but Joe Simon may not be having signings at that time because of possible health issues.
(Of course I hope Joe stays healthy for a long long time)
This is of course my just my opinion.
If you have the opportunity to get an Avengers #4 (Grail book) signed by Lee & Simon, then maybe do it soon.
The price could go DOWN because the economy is screwed.
Or the price could just higher for the next 2 years because of the upcoming movie.
I don't know, something to think about though.

Sorry, yes I am talking about Avengers #4. I guess if the price is right I would get it now. What I'm looking for in that book is a cover that's closer to white. Mostly been seeing cream colored ones.
As far as not getting older books signed anymore unless they are mid grade, I guess it is a little bit worried about grade drop but maybe mostly the fact that mid grade are easier to get. Now I still want my Cap#109 CGC 9.2 to get signed by Stan Lee. Simons sig is on it already. I guess if I can get a modern high grade signed I would go that route first.
Definitely agree with the get the creators while they are healthy. Out of all my SS books I would say Lee and Simon I have the most of with Romita Sr in 3rd. I do need more Stan Lees'. Mostly Spidey books I get signed by him being the co-creator and all.
By the way do you have any sketch covers done? Do you have any of the Fallen Son blanks? __________________

Blank Sketch covers? Yeah I love em, but no don't have any.
They are hard to find!!
I didn't really know about sketch covers and CGC SS back when Fallen Son came out, but recently did try to get some of the blank Marvel projects covers but was unsuccessful.
I think I read somewhere that it was limited to like 5 per store? Or something I like that.
The local comic shops around me I checked but they are said they didn't have any.
I figure they probably might have had some some, but were saving it for the store subscribers.
As for sketch covers done....
I do have (not yet in my possession) a Marvel Projects Zeck sketch from Danny done. I think he just got it back from CGC, as he posted recently that so far all the sketches received a 9.8 grade.
I don't have it yet though, I'll post a picture of the sketch and grade when I receive it though.
As for getting the sketch books sketched and signed, I'm not to clear on the process with CGC.
I mean I have gotten sketches before at cons and I am normally in line for a looong time, then when I reach the artist it takes a while for him to sketch something.
Will a CGC agent stand with me in line for that long of a period?
Maybe I'm supposed to work it out with an agent for me to call his cell right as I meet the artist in line? Hmmmm. ...
You have done it before right? How does it work to get the book sketched on and then graded?
I know it's a time consuming process, so I'm curious about how long the agents can even wait there by your side.
So far the only sketch book I have (or will be getting) is the Zeck one.
That I just have to pay in advance and Danny does it all for me.
The other one I tried to go for was the Romita SR sketch that Chandler was offering to I think 5 people. I tried but didn't get to him in time about it.
Even that one though, Chandler needed a blank skectch book sent to him.
So even if I qualified for it I would have been stuck with no sketch book, LOL!
The main big local con here is WonderCon in San Francisco which I go to every year. I definitely will be trying to get some sketch covers done at that con.
The con is in April, so I have plenty of time to try and find a few sketch covers for that.
What's great is that Chandler said he was really going to try and attend that con as well.
So if he does, I can ask him to help me out witnessing sketches.
So yeah I'm still kinds new to this CGC sketch covers stuff, but yeah it's all awesome!
Gotta find me some blanks and WonderCon here I come LOL!!
You know first I thought CGC was pretty cool itself, then I found about CGC SS, which was even better. And now...sketch covers Wooah!!
Here is a picture of the Zeck sketch cover that Dan got for me....

If CGC is at the Con then you can arrange for them to go with you to pick it up from the artist. So when the artist is done, don't take the book. Just go to the CGC booth tell them you got a sketch cover done and you would like a witness to go with you to pick it up and bring it back to the CGC booth.
I found a website that has the Fallen Son blanks. They were $4 but now they upped it to $5. Probably cause I bought so many. lol. The Marvels Project blanks I got through the CGC boards. Chandler and a few others are dealers and they were taking pre-orders so I got them through them. That's another way the boards are great. I will email you the site if you want. I will probably pick up another 10 or so of the Fallen Son blanks. __________________

Thanks for the link Tim!
As for the CGC SS #286, yeah I think it was Dan on ebay. It was a while ago, but I do think it was him.
Not the Annual #8 CGC SS though, that was from someone in Canada.
Here is a picture of another Romita SR Cap sketch.
This is NOT mine, I think I got the photo from the CGC boards......

Hey Sam! I don't know if you bought any of the Fallen Son blanks but If you did they raised the price again so you got some just in time. I picked up another 10. So I have enough to last me a few years lol.
Also, There was a person on the CGC boards selling the Marvels Project blanks for $3. He said he had a 100 but not sure if he was selling all of them. You should PM him and get some. __________________

Do you mean if I have it CGC'd?
If so, then no I don't.
If you are asking if I just have the issue, then yes I do.
I actually have a complete run of Cap from the silver age to present. (Tales of Suspense #59-99, Cap 100-601)

Probably not.
It's in decent condition, maybe 9.2-.9.4?
However when it comes to more current comics, I lean on a higher grade if I'm going to the trouble of getting them graded.
So with my Cap #1, I probably won't get this one graded.
As for older comics, I don't really care about condition as much as they are hard enough to find in decent condition without paying top dollar for them
By the way remember that Cap dics I sent you a while ago?
I am sending you a Spider-Man & Iron Man sets out today.

Yes, that is Trimpe. The other is Alex Maleev. Alex did one of my favorite Cap covers on Civil War Confessions #1 2nd print.
There is also a Zombie version of Cap #100. Been looking for a 9.8 copy. If I find a pick of the Civil war cover and zombie Cap I will post them. __________________
