How about a pool of actors that you DON'T want to see as Captain America???

Matthew McConaughey would be up there, with Freddy Prinze Jr (Back in 2000 he lobbied for that role).

None of those guys I liked. A couple I wasn't familiar with.

Armie Hammer is a guy I like for the job, but he's been tapped for Bruce Wayne in the JLA film (if that's still alive and not under contract).

If he's out of that contract and the film is dead, I think he's got the look down, (you should have seen him as Morgan on Reaper) it's just a quesion of acting and character then.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2309517/

Looks pretty good, 29 years old, tall, checked him out on the imdb board.  Great face, can find a skinny kid that looks similar and using those morphing computer, just some muscles bulging, cheeks growing (No features moving like eyes or ears moving out of place, nose growing longer), hair growing.

A little bit on the skinny side, got a year to work out, put on some muscle and mass.  Charlie Sheen did it for Hot Shots part deux.

Those are terrible choices.

Matthew Marsden -- The noble mercenary 'Schoolboy' in Rambo 2008.

I can totally see him as Steve Rogers and in the Cap suit.

See pics.

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3481443072/nm0550452

Golden boy looks like Steve Rogers/Cap.
Ideal height 6'2".
Noble screen presence -- has that certain 'good guy' quality you can't teach.
Intelligent.
Down to earth -- audience will relate.
Good actor who just needs that breakout role.
Combat film resume.
Black Hawk Down.
Rambo (as 'Schoolboy').
Expert fighter in real life -- could have been a pro boxer or MMA star.
Black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Well versed in military combat techniques and knows how to utilize them.
Trained with the U.S. Navy seals for Black Hawk Down.
In 2004, he qualified as a PADI Divemaster.
Frequently trains with members of the German Navy.
In 2009, Marsden did a tandem free-fall from 13,500 feet with the Army Golden Knights Parachute team.

That's Cap!

See bio.

Finally, the right guy for Cap.

Has the looks, acting ability, fight skills, and a noble 'good guy' persona that radiates both onscreen and offscreen. Has the heart for the character too.

Just as Harrison Ford was plucked from obscurity and cast in Star Wars and Robert Downey Jr. chosen over several more famous actors for Iron Man, so should Matthew Marsden be chosen for Captain America.

Fits the Cap actor profile in every way.

What about his voice? He's a fluent english-speaking actor who can act. Would pull it off. Would LOVE to see this guy as Cap. The perfect fit.

Yeah, that's what you think.

I'm going to have to go with Matt Damon on this one hands down.

Some say he's too small for the role. But we've seen many actors who haven't fit the body type of there marvel character and they have nailed it.

Wolverine is 5'3 in the comics and offen refered to as "pipsqueak". Hugh Jackman is 6'2, yet who could argue that he wasn't the perfect wolverine to grace the silver screen.(pardon the rhyme)

And who would have thought Liev Schreiber would have portrayed the perfect sabertooth and yet he did.

Captain America is a level headed tactician and brilliant strategist, that wins more often by his wits then his brawn. In marvel he is an underdog often defeating vastily more powerful opponents with skill, and heart.

Cap has loads in common with Jason Bourne, except he also has the charismatic leadership skills to command the battlefield. Matt Damon could pefectly portray this role on the silver screen and can be both charismatic and straight laced all in the same stride. Not to mention he's proven his physical abilities in the Bourne movies. It would be great to see a cap with Bourne style fighting scenes.

Quite frankily any other choice would be a huge mistake.

Someone suggested this person:

Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd, 32-33 years old, 6'4, in the True Blood tv show,  one time running for Thor, has a presence, ...

I hope that, with whoever they choose, it's not another Spiderman 3 or Hulk 1. And I hope they spend some time working on this gentleman prior to actual filming; as they did with Hugh Jackman, the guys from "300" or Thomas Jane in the Punisher, so that the character has a more "natural" feel as an action hero.

Thomas Jane was a legend, too bad he refused to do another Punisher, if he did, War Zone wouldn't be he lowest rated film in Marvel history.
