So, The Dark Reign is upon us, the Villians of the World (sans the Red Skull thank goodness) have found themselves in a position to truly take over the world.  So we've this new multi story epic, that puts the Marvel universe into an even more broken state than it was before.

Bucky as a Rouge Cap probably is going to be a problem for Osborn, but who knows, Bucky has little first hand knowledge of Osborn outside of what he saw during the secret invasion.  So perhaps he'll be an ally.  If not, what about the Grand Director, certainly Osborn would want to tie up that loose thread as his own personal Cap fighting and leading the Thunderbolts (perhaps).

Any way, all this has to be leading somewhere, and what better way after the collapse of the this new cabal (anyone notice similarities between it and the illuminati) than the return of Steve Rogers a who missed more in two years then he missed in twenty years the first time.

I am really excited by Dark Reign, and can see this is going to be big, but Cap has been such a whisper through out the Marvel Universe of late you just know he's going to play a part in all this.  If not in person than through his surrogates of Bucky and the Grand Director.  The two people most inspired by Cap.

Even though they codename Captain America just says you wear the costume, in my honest opinion, Cap IS NONE OTHER than Steve Rogers! I pray that they bring him back, maybe right before Bucky falls in a fight, he comes in and saves him.

Guys I posted a Dark Reign Checklist on my other site with preview images of the new Dark Avengers.

Here's what I think:

Dark Avengers= Thunderbolts
Iron Patriot= Norman Osborn in Citizen V style
     Ms. Marvel= Songbird
     60's style Wolverine= Wolverine's son (wolverine origins)
     Hawkeye= Bullseye
     Marvel Boy= Marvel Boy
     Sentry will also be present.

These "Dark Avengers" are the "reformed" villains of the current era.  Just as the Thunderbolts were just before SI.

The picture above is New Avengers with Bucky/Cap in the middle just like the New Avengers #1.  Here's the catch:  Every one of the NA is unregistered.  Iron Man was keeping B/CA an exception to the registration rule.  Dark Avengers will track down New Avengers.  New Avengers, the heroes of Secret Invasion, will gain public support.  Thus the heroes are asked but not forced to register as Cap would want it.

Isn't this what we all want?  Bucky/Cap in the Marvel universe?  He's now interacting with Spidey, an army brat/1940 teen with a modern teen/young man.  Plus, Wolverine's on the team, Bucky, while operating as the Winter Soldier, killed his wife.  There's also the fact that everyone looks at Cap as a leader and inspiration, Bucky's not that, he's more soldier than a commander.
I'm speculating that this will draw more people to Captain America.  Bucky/Cap is like opening up a new door and bringing in potential for new stories and adventures.  Like when Xfiles first started, and introduced the audience to alien abductions, conspiracies, horror stories and forensic investigation.  It just opened the audiences' mind to new possibilities, up until these stories became repetitive, over-used and tired.  For Bucky/Cap, it'll be another year or two, and we'll see if Brubaker can keep Cap stories interesting, if not, it'll be fun to see how others will handle the new Cap.  If that won't work, there's always the Steve Rogers ressurrection.

I spotted a recently leaked cover with a character in a classic cap uniform holding the lifeless body of Ironman.

Anyone else see this floating around the internets?

Matches...
Cap killed Iron Man?
Can you give me the picture of something?
Or link?
From my understanding Cap nearly killed Iron Man in Civil War, but then relized that how much they have destroyed, So Cap gave up.

No Cap doesn't kill Tony...at least not that I know of.

The image (here http://io9.com/5049024/oh-my-god-they-killed-tony) shows what seems to be a man in an old school cap uniform holding a limp Ironman.

Now if that's steve in the costume, or Tony in the suit or if any of them are dead who knows.

What struck me is that the uniform doesn't seem to be Bucky's uniform leading one to imagine that it is either Steve or the Grand Director.

It's a What if book, what if Iron Man died.  I read it and it's not good. It fast-forward through the Fallen son mini series with themes like Cap serving his time, Iron Man/Stark's body being sent into space, Lukin/Red Skull buying out Stark enterprise and the Skrull invasion moving in, it skipped the return of the Hulk.
It would've been better if it was how Cap dealt with the Skrull invasion if he was alive.

I get it Matches, Cap is Tony's best friend, Iron Man must've died in battle or something, and his best friend is carrying him.

It's an issue of What If that postulates what ifIron Man had died insteadof Cap.
By Vincent's decription it really doesn't sound that good...

Yeah, I just picked up my weekly haul wich includes both what if's out...I haven't read this one yet, but the Fantastic Four What if, I don't know...just didn't impress me.  I saw what they were trying to do, but well, it didn't do it.

Still, I do think a Steve Rogers return is going to be big third act reveal at the end of Dark Reign.

After all, after Osborn is revealed as a lunatic, who else is going to have the societal good faith to put the Marvel Universe back except Cap.

Of course, that might be too easy, the messianic return of Steve and all, perhaps they'll keep in on ice for that reason to force the universe to put itself back together without a hero at the head.

It will be a very differnt world when they do bring steve back, either way.

Depends, every time there's the best part of the act to bring back Cap, but they don't do it.
It's almost 2009, 2 years without Cap is long enough.

I think they have to let Bru run with Bucky as Cap for a while.  Realistically Cap has been dead 2 years to us, but probably only a couple/three months to the heroes.  I have to agree that there is going to be some tie in to Steve coming back and the movie in 2011 (at least I hope so).
