I wouldn't say that would be a great costume for the movie. But it's fan made!

How did you guys make the shield? I'm finding that the hardest thing to make.

I don't think any of the people in the photos are here. If you have $300, you can buy a shield. If not, try going to a ski shop and get one of those sled disks and just be careful painting the circles. __________________

Hey DK2007, that mask you made is pretty cool.
Do you make any Cap costumes to go with it?
By the way are you a member of the LOH (League of Heroes)?

Pole805, yeah I love that one too.
I know the guy in it, his name is Steve.
The 3rd & 4th pictures that I posted above are the same costume.
Steve's costume was made by Extreme Designs FX.
here is their web site.....
http://www.xtremedesignfx.com/
I e-mailed them last year to make me one, but the price was a little too high for me.
It came out to be about $2300 for it.
(No shield included)
Expensive, but it is really a nice suit.
Most Cap costumes you see are spandex, you don't see too many that are full latex like the new Batman movies.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I was looking through the different posts of costumes on here and I was really impressed with what I saw and figured that you guys would be able to help. I am trying to piece together my own suit. The suit itself wasn't a hard thing to find, I found a good lycra/spandex suit on a website that sells for about 49.99, but I have 3 problems.
1. I need good boots (red, buccaneer style)
2. Decent gloves that don't look crappy. (preferrably something with a leather look to it.)
3. The wings on the head? Where on earth can I find these things? Or can they be made? The suit came with what looks like white pieces of foam glued to the head and that will not do at all.
Here's a link to suit that I bought. http://www.superzentai.com/zen/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=186
Please feel free to offer any advice or thoughts. Thank you very much.

EEK!
You can do better than that.
Oh, yeah, new member first post.
I'm in the middle of making a Cap costume.
I've used compression suit tops and pants to put mine together.
Painted the stripes on a white shirt with fabric paint.
Used foamies to make the scales...
Made the Shield out of a garbage can lid...
My wings a sculpted from clay, made a mold, and cast them with hot glue and painted them white.
I've made boot covers that I've glued to some old boots. And I'm working on making the gloves myself.

Well, I think the one that I am considering buying will look great with a belt, boots, gloves, and new wings. Just takes a little imagination.
I would buy the new captain america costume if I could find a good version of it somewhere, I don't know how others feel, but I think the new design is badass and Alex Ross is a God. I love his depiction of it. I saw a picture on eBay of someone wearing the new suit and it looked great, I should've asked where they got it or if they made it.
If anyone knows anything about the new suit or has any pics of others wearing it, I'd love to see them.
Cujo, I like your idea of using the foamies for the scales, but my objection to that was:
1. The work was tedious.
2. The Foamies will fleck off eventually.
3. I don't think the desired effect will be created.
Of course that's only my opinion, but I have made several lycra costumes before, and all the ones I've seen where people try to simulate Cap's scale armor usually don't end up looking like what Cap wears in the comics.
I was impressed with your shield, wonderful paint job. I bought mine from Swordsswords.com. It's 27" across and the paint job is super glossy. It's pretty nice and I only paid like 60.00 bucks whereas most people end up spending like $300-400 on Factory X and the Windlass replicas. Of course it doesn't touch their flawless quality, but only the extreme scrutinizer would notice any difference. Swordsswords also sells the vintage 1940s style shield, but I prefer the circular design.
Post more pics of your suit, I'd like to see the whole thing. It's hard to judge a suit when its just laying around.
Thanks for your tips.

"THECAPTAIN"-
Hey welcome to the boards!
Wow I think it's awesome that you are trying to piece together a Cap costume.
I have been researching Cap costumes for over a year now, so I may be able to help with any questions you might have.
Boots?
Here is a link to the best boots in the business.....
http://caboots.zoovy.com/product/1XCSGAST/CUSTOM_GASTON_BOOTS.html
EXPENSIVE, but I know people that got em and say there is nothing like it.
(I guess they better be for that price)
Another option is Brian from the LOH (League of Heroes)
Here is a link where he tells you how to make it yourself.
http://theleagueofheroes.yuku.com/topic/1834/t/HOW-TO-D-I-Y-Capta ...
If you have no sewing skillz (like me) you can commission him to make you a pair.
It would fit your Zentai Cap costume best I think.
Gloves?
Brian also can make gloves to match the boots, and they rock!
If you contact him ask him about it.
He even put up a tutural on how to make them, but I can't find it right now.
Another option for gloves is to go to your local army surplus store.
I've been there and have seen these french motorcycle gloves that look PERFECT for Cap.
You'll be surprised of what you can find in the surplus store that will look good with a Cap costume.
wings?
Here are two options....
XDFX makes resin ones em here for sale.....
http://www.xtremedesignfx.com/maskadditions.htm
A cheper solution is to take em off the horse of Barbie.
Read this thread at the LOH about it......
http://theleagueofheroes.yuku.com/topic/4951/t/Cap-s-Mask-and-tho ...
There is also a step by step tuteral on making a costume at instructables.......
http://www.instructables.com/id/Captain_America_Halloween_Costume/
And also always check out the LOH, those guys have helped me so much though the years.

Oh and Captain thanx for the link to the where you got your shield.
They got a pretty nice WWII shield thee a may think of picking up.
Sincs you are getting a Zentai Cap suit from China, here is an example of someone else who took that suit and made it his own......
WWII CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!
The Alex Ross Cap costume is "Brin Londo" from the LOH.
Yeah his Costume rocks too.
Here is a picture of him in the Alex Ross as well as one of his many other Cap costumes...
As for the foamies on a compression suit, it actually works pretty good I think.
It is a lot of work though.
Here is a picture of the costume I bought from Brian at the LOH......
(I have about 5-6 different style Cap costumes)
I think the foamies version looks pretty cool on it.

PS Schmucker, glad you like it. I'm on the LOH too (batman723) and I used Brians tutorial to do my boots, maybe my next pair will come closer to being as good as his. He is the man.
I was going to do the pegasus wings, but I'd never be able to find them in my kid's room. So I made my own.
The top pic of the Zentai suit looks better, some quality accessories can make a big difference.

Great shots there Schmucker!
The Alex Ross costume (The one Bucky is wearing in the comics right now) I was referring to was this one...
http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimag ...
Sorry for the super long length of that link, but the article there tells how Ross re-designed the new look of captain america.

Ahhhh...
The Alex Ross curent costume, gotcha!
My bad, I was thinking about the Alex Ross version he did in Earth X.
As for the current costume, I've only seen it a few times as it is a pretty new design.
Here is the one of em......
And here is another...

PS Schmucker -
Your Cap suits always rock, Buddy!
I'd love to see pics of all of them!
Question: In the suit you are wearing in your avatar pic, is there a foam lining inside the cowl to give it better shape?
