Those were all awesome costumes , I am starting on my first custom Captain America Costume and I need Help finding a shield. I want to do the 1940"s version of the shield but have no Idea where to get or make one as I do not want to spend $300 or more to get one of the licensed shields . Anyone have a suggestions or reccomendation?

What do you think of this costume? I feel it's way too puffy, but the shading is very good.
I'd like to see a tighter-fitting costume, without the fake muscles, but with similar colours and shades. I wonder if anyone's seen it out there.

Nah.. The "A" is too small, the wings are too big.
The belt is not very acurate, is that a mag light and handcuffs on it!?!?
And hey... is that a watch over his glove, lol!

You got all of that right...and I get the feeling there's a Joel Schumacher inspiration in this costume...including the stuff we don't want!

Awesome Atomic!
I'm about finished as well with my WWII gear thanks to the helmet & mask Stitches made me.
I had send him a piece of material from my suit and he got the blue on the helmet to match the rest if the costume. Awesome!!
I may tweak it a little later, but this is pretty much finished.

Got some pics of what I'm currently working on right now...it's just a W.I.P. right now though.
I'm building the movie Cap uniform. It looks like it'll translate really, really well for paintball purposes.
The main section of the armor is made from motocross armor. I trimmed it down to just under my pectorals and then fiberglassed the pieces to add a little more strength to the form.
The arm guards are made from foam kneepads I found at Wal-Mart, also fiberglassed for extra strength.
The straps are elastic straps I found at the craft store and suspenders I disassembled.
I made the star from a piece of plastic I culled from a kitty litter container...durable, yet flexible. I riveted it to the chest and I plan to hide the rivets somehow, perhaps putty sanded down?
I already have the red suspenders to add to this and I'm figuring out how to do the red circle with the star emblems on the shoulders.
I'll post more progress when I have some.

These are from the Infinity Wars game this past weekend. I have more that my friends needs to upload first. These two were taken by others at the event.

Cool.
Do you think having the shield flat like that rather than curved works better? With it curved like the comics, ricochets are more likely to skip back toward you, right? Flat is probably smarter. __________________

I haven't actually had any ricochet issues with the curved/concave shield. The one in the photos was the field's shield made by their prop-master. After the game, I was awarded the shield by the owner for being "the best Captain America ever" for the history of the event. This year was the fifth time they ran this game.
Chances are I will return next year to play the role again.

During the safety briefing in the morning...
With one of the Army recruiters, Pre-Game...they were a sponsor for the game and fielded a contingent that played under my command. Great group of kids...

Hey everybody! first time poster here. I am really into costumes, especially super hero costumes. I have the right build for most hero's (6`4 240) and im a circus acrobat to boot, so I love dressing up and doing crazy tricks at various events and what not. The circus I am in has even kicked around the idea of an all superhero routine, mostly due to my love of superhero costumes. I have duffman (homemade and AWESOME), and I have also had in my possession spiderman, superman and batman (all three have since been given to my partner acrobats so they can have sweet things to wear soon).
I am incredibly patriotic (my summer and winter jackets both sport large american flags), and it seems obvious to me that I need a captain america costume.
Unlike the duffman costume which was homemade, I dont believe I have the skills to make a good cap A costume. I looked up online for some zentai suits and it seems there are a few options out there. Do any of you have any recommendations on which ones are of higher quality/look less cheasy? I am already well built, so I dont want fake muscles involved. Ideally it would be a material that is not slippery either so I can do partner acrobatics. Specific websites that people feel are trustworthy would be INCREDIBLY appreciated, as I am a bit wary of ordering a zentai suit online as alot of the websites just seem a bit fishy to me.
Past that I have looked thru this thread and have seen some good tips on making accessories. Although I'd love to discuss it further. I look forward to response, and I promise that once I finish the costume I will post pictures, while doing splits, gymnastics and acrobatics.
PS - the spiderman suit I gave to my friend is not that great, he is also looking for a spiderman zentai suit (which seems alot easier to get then capt A). Any tips on a website to buy from for that would also be greatly appreciated.

Hey Dutch. Check out some of the Cosplay sites for tips. I don't cosplay myself (I just take pictures of the cosplayers) but they would have better information and maybe some people that can even make the costumes.
Check out Cosplay.com for some good resources. __________________

What exactly should I be asking for? Same general tips im asking you guys? Really I spose I just want to know if these websites offering zentai suits are gonna rip me off, and if the materials will hold up. That I spose those cosplay guys could answer better as they have a wider range of experience.
Outside of that, more tips on accessories (Im thinking one of those circular sleds, repainted for the shield, and attempting to make the gloves/wings myself)
ill check into those sites and keep yall updated if I can finish the project soon.
Im very tempted to purchase from this site
http://www.zentai.hk/captain-america-shiny-metallic-zentai-suit-p ...
but I just cant tell with foreign websites if they are legit. Plus it has all these options at the bottom for open eyes and stuff. Wouldnt this costume be standard with open eyes? I am good at acting like a superhero, bad at doing stuff on the internet.

I'd say, poke around those cosplay sites and look for an area where people are asking questions and look for the proper spot to ask.
A proper heavy metallic shield can cost you about $300. If that is too much to spend, there are cheaper options like plastic or making your own but you have to balance out what is more important to you: authentic look vs. cheaper price.
I don't know anything about the Zentai suits so I can't help you out there. __________________

I know this post hasn't been used in a while, but I thought I'd post some pics before Bucky is no longer Cap!
Here is me in a Bucky-Cap style leather jacket that I had custom made in Vietnam in 2009 when we were there.
The tailoring is okay, but not perfect. The colors for the jacket turned out really well, though. You can't see the blue too well, but it's a really nice navy blue. Which makes me wonder, that if I can get a pretty good jacket "cheaply" made, why couldn't they make a really good version of Steve's original costume for the movie?!

It's all in the post showing the armor, actually, but to sum it up, I modified a set of motocross armor, fiberglassed it and added the strapping. Pretty cheap build and it's served me well since.

Went and played the 2011 Infinity Wars paintball game, returning as Cap.
When I arrived at the field, I was told they never found someone to play the Nick Fury role so I was therefore on my own for command...my first time as a general.
I lead to the largest landslide victory the field has ever seen! We won all five mission blocks overwhelmingly, pinning the Villains down in the respawn for most of the event.
Safety briefing, Day One...
Quick pose before the official start of the game...
Giving orders to my men just prior to us taking control of the fort near the Villains' respawn point...
Chilling with Adam Warlock
Here's some shots of the Realm Guardians...for the rules of the game, they each guard one of the Infinity Gems and are invulnerable until you acquire the prop to take them out. They then turn over their gem and give you a map to find the key to end their realm...
Mephisto, after his realm had ended...couldn't catch him in time to get a shot before...perhaps next year
Dr.Doom
Surtur
Drax the Destroyer
Adam Warlock, whom I posted above, was the final Guardian.
I also had this guy running with me quite a bit...
