i think pitt should be captain america because he only has to bulk up a little and if he played thor he would hav to be liften frickin desks instead of weights. also hes a good actor so he has that and he could die his hair blond i mean its obvious pitt for Captain America not Thor

Pitt for neither one.

Brad Pitt is a decent actor but I am sorry he just doesn't have the acting ability for a character as complicated as Captain America.  I saw Troy, and although I admit I watched it because of Sean Bean, I love classical literature and The Illiad and I wanted to see how he would play Achilles.  He was pretty dismal in the role.  Achilles is a plum part for an actor, and done well trancends being an invincible bully boy to a living breathing character.  Unfortunately, I did not get that from Brad Pitt.

Not just no, but hell no.

I'd never risk Captain America being associated with "Brangelina"

I'd second this if I didn't think that Pitt wasn't right for the part in so many ways.

I feel sorry for the 'Brangelina' rap he takes in the press.  I think that has hurt him in so many ways.  It's not going to help his longevity as an actor, his credibility as an actor, and I think will keep him from learning and being able to do the quality acting he IS capable of if he can focus on truly learning his craft.  Richard Chamberlain had the presence of mind after Dr. Kildare was done to recognise what he lacked as an actor, ditched his fame and all the roles thrown at him to go to England and go to RADA (the school of hard knocks for serious actors) and truly learn his craft.  Unfortunately too few take that kind of inventory of their ability once they hit something that makes them a "star".  He was pretty decent in Legends of the Fall, but everything he does seems a rehash of Tristan.  It's a shame for an actor with his potential.

Brad Pitt? He wouldn't be my top choice.

Something just ocurred to me in the discussion:  it's a pity Heath Ledger died; now he was a contemporary actor that might have been able to carry the role.

Really?  Okay, so he didn't show off much in the way of "Invincible demi-god", true.  but based on the Iliad, (that is what the movie was about right?) he pulled off the holier-than-thou-art aspect pretty well.  I mean, the Iliad was about a guy that could have defeated half the armies of Troy by his lonesome.  Instead, he decides that he's not getting the glory he deserves and abandons the greeks.  After his cousin Ajax, no not the giant with the warhammer, realizes that he will be dishonored and laughed at by all that once thought him great, he tries to fight his battles for him...and dies.

So you see why I kinda thought he did a good job, right?

As for playing Cap?  I USED to think he'd be good at it, since the Ultimates version is based on him. As for Brangelina?  He looked okay in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" as a trained paramilitary expert.  Still, he's not my top choice now either.

I didn't see any of the hero in him that made what Agamemnon did and how he treated him more reprehensible.  He didn't do a terrible job, it was just dismal of how much he had to work with and didn't take advantage of it.  That is what is disappointed me in the role.  I do hope that he can get past all the 'star' rubbish and really come along in his craft.  He has the talent to do it.  Until such time, I don't think he can handle the complexities of Captain America.

I'm not saying he's bad, it's just there are many more actors that would be a little bit better than Pitt, now if none of them were avalible, yeah, they'd pick Bradd Pitt.

First and foremost, quality acting ability has to be #1.  Captain America is too complicated a character to be played by anyone who is not a top quality actor.  The physical bit does have a play but that is secondary.  I am waiting and seeing what they put out for names.
