Its been reported that another Avenger (that is not Cap or Thor) has been cast in the Iron Man 2 movie. That means in the Avengers film we'll be seeing more than Iron Man, Cap, Thor, and Hulk. Who do you guys think it is? I'm betting its Clint Barton--Hawkeye, since he was one of Iron Man's main villains in the early 60s.

Well it's just a guess, but how about rounding out the original Avengers with Hank (Henry) Pym aka Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath etc. Remember it was his giant hand that reached out of the Avengers submarine to retrieve the then unknown form of Captain America.

Hany Pym and the Wasp are possiblities, but why would they be in an Iron Man movie? Hawkeye is a more likely choice since he had a much more important role in the life of Iron Man.

Hawkeye would make sense, though there is an Ant-Man movie in development by Edgar Wright, one of the brains behind "Sean of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz."

Either way, bring it on.

It does mean that sorta...either Iron Man 2 is The Avengers, or they say if that doesn't work its just called the Avengers.

Iron Man 2 is NOT the Avengers. That's already been established.
Posted:  26 Jul 2008 03:32
Another superhero, could be just rumors or intentional leaked info to create buzz, talk or to guage the fans reaction or opinions of this info.

I wouldn't mind another superhero in the Iron man 2 movie, as long as it doesn't distract from the main characters, Iron man/Stark, Rodney, Potts, the bad guys and the story.  Hawkeye would be an excellent choice because he's rebellously, smark-alecky, and just anti-goody-two-shoes.  Meaning that he'll be like the black knight to the Round table of good knights, or he'll be telling Stark or Rodney that they look stupid in metal, in a funny way.
Posted:  26 Jul 2008 04:48
Hawkeye should add a good touch to Iron Man 2..and the Avengers.
Posted:  26 Jul 2008 13:41
Maybe the Black Widow? She could also be a romantic temptaion to Stark while being a problem for Iron Man.
Posted:  26 Jul 2008 14:58
Black Widow is a good possibility. She was also Hawkeye's lover, and his reason for becoming Iron Man's villian in the first place, so I think if we see one of them, we'll see both of them.

Black Widow sounds the best, easily transferred into Iron Man's "world" since she has no super powers and could blend in well amongst the already established S.H.I.E.L.D.  Maybe they could do a take on Titanium Man or Crimson Dynamo whose armor was brought out of a warehouse from some old Soviet storage facility(one of the Crimson Dynamos' was a husband of Black Widow I believe to create more of a reason as to why Natalia would be in the movie).

Guranteened there won't be another Cap film, not in this generation, only the 2011 one. Iron Man made millions, almost billions, thats why they make more parts.
Here's the popularity of heroes:
Spider-Man 96%
Iron-Man 93%
Hulk 89%
Punisher 78%
Thor 64%
F4 88%
Ghost Rider 56%
Captain America 33%
AS you can see, Cap isn't that popular, most people, don't know you Cap is there won't be sequel.

What the heck is Punisher and Ghost Rider doing in front of Cap??!! And you left out the X-Men. I think they would be way up there too. I think the top five most popular would be:
1- Spider-Man
2- X-Men
3- Hulk
4- Captain America
5- Fantastic Four

All right, Ghost Rider/Punisher...MOVIE...LOTS OF MONEY...POPULARITY...
Of course, Cap hasn't had a movie in the last what 12 years? That's why he doesn't have much.

A sequel to a Cap movie depends on how much money the first does, not how popular a character is. More people know about Captain America than Hellboy and he got a sequel. I don't think many knew much about Iron Man but they heard good buzz and went to see a good movie. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer sucked so people didn't see it and it didn't make much money if any so no third film. Superman Returns made some money but they were hoping for more and had already invested millions. He is the most popular superhero so why have they dragged their heals with the next film?

Before May 1977, no one heard of Star Wars. But it became popular and made money because of a good buzz that kept building and building into what it is now (despite some bad movies in the franchise).

The point is, they make a good movie, give it a PR push (like Dark Knight or Iron Man) and it WILL become popular and profitable and raise Cap's popularity standing.

The general masses don't know jack about Watchmen but Warner Brothers is positioning it as a big movie by educating the masses with cheap reprints of the trade.

Cap isn't as well known as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-man, the X-Men, and the Hulk but the costume and name will be familiar to many. After all, his death made the national news last year.

Exactly. And it does, you can tell is does depend on
popularity. Punisher (2004) made almost as much as Iron Man, a little less, but Jane turned it down.
If War Zone isn't that good, and fails the test, there will be no more movies of The Punisher.

Captain America was ranked 7th most dynamic character by Wizard (Wizard issue 200).  When Wizard says that Wolverine is #1, and Batman is #3(I may be wrong, but someone check me) on a list of the top 200, I tend to believe Wizard.  If you want to spread lies, find another forum.

good spot  Can you tell me what else Captain America and Star Wars have in common?

How about that they were first published (before the movie even) by Marvel Comics...okay, technically Marvel didn't exist in '41, it was Timely, but the rest is true.

As for the original topic:  No one said "War-machine" yet.  There's a part of the 1st film that Rhodey looks at the "Mark II" (right?) and says "Next time around."  But is WM an avenger?  Technically he's a West Coast Avenger/ Force Works member, but is it REALLY the same.

Yeah, I WANT hawkeye in the Avengers movie, but I could hold out for the sequel

There was an entertainment magazine that I read almost a year ago, it was not centered on just comic books and they conducted a survey on popular Marvel characters, and Captain America ranked no. 1 (This excluded Spider man and Xmen since they already had hit movies).  Spider man was a surprise to the studios because they thought only kids would go see that movie (Like the Xmen), but there was a huge group of adults who knew Spidey from the sixties and parents who wanted to take their kids to see Spidey.

For Cap, hopefully it'll attract adults like Spidey did and Cap is a great leader and character that inspire others to do good, a character that parents would like their kids to pick up on. an ordinary man who joins the army to fight Hitler is a great message about our armed forces, hopefully that won't cause too much debate with the current political views (Won't go there).
The Tom Jane/Punisher didn't do that well because it was overshadowed by Kill Bill2. Punisher isn't a movie that appeals to a general audience, it's a vigilante who shoots Mob people.  Would work like a tv series for adults, Dexter versus the Sopranos.  Wolverine is in the same boat, tough, dangerous, feral and missunderstood, not something that entertains kids or parents, but when he's protecting his people (Mutants), people may pick up on or relate to.  Iron Man worked because of Downey Jr. and that cool armor.  Plus the public's and media's obsessions with the rich and famous, so the movie is about a rich and famous person who discovers his consious and fights crime.
I'm saying that to make Cap a good movie, is to make it a marketable success.  Ordinary man joins the army, inspiring people, fighting in a just cause, and it's just cool to have this guy charging into battle with that cool shield.  It also have to look good, with good actors and a cast of hundreds for the war scenes, and that means money and 200% effort going into this movie.  Cap deserves to be made as a summer blockbuster movie, not a low-budget B-movie.

War-Machine would be a bad idea. I know he'll be in Iron Man 2 but leave him out of the Avengers. I mean, if they included him it would be like having two Iron Mans.

What about Wonder Man?

CAptain America (1990) was crap. People who saw that...popular...1,000.........................100

Maybe the new one will make up for it.

I think Marvel will make sure not to screw this one up.

After all the publicity a year and a half ago with the "Death of Captain America" I don't think they will rush and risk messing things up.  Remember the news was on Fox, CNN, etc.
