This is from a story in 1981 from Captain America 265-266.

Very ironic and ominous ain't it?

So long as the spirit of freedom burns bright in America's soul...Captain America will not die. What does that say about our society now? Sure was a lot different when Ronald Reagan was President.

I like this one a lot too.

So long as brave, free men live -- the eternal torch of liberty and justice shall never die. Now that's the Captain America I grew up reading. Not all this doom and gloom.

Here's the cover from the first part of the story issue 265

Cap really seems to get the best patriotic moments whenever he teams up with Spider-man for some reason. Remember the Civil War speech to Spider-man Cap made? http://captain-america.us/articles/civil-war.htm

Good stuff and great point!
It is a different day and age.

Those must be old, but cool.

I must get that issue!

Tim, I took your advise and looked through the $1 bin at my comic shop. I got some great CAP comics in pretty good shape.

Got CAP#'s 302, 304-306, 319, 320, and Avengers #236 where Spidey Crashes the Avengers mansion.  All for under $8!!

Good reads.

Heck yeah, I couldn't continue my reading habits without the cheap boxes.

I don't know, but back then they had the best comics!

Oh, that would be a lot a typing, but I'll tell the piont, Drug Dealers.

I think there are a lot of patriotic people in the country – on the left and the right.

I think the country is down, but it will be back: Once we get back to business in Afghanistan and get out of Iraq; once we secure our ports and borders, once we come up with a sane environmental policy; once we get back to regulating business and not peoples' private lives; once we bring jobs back from China and pay off the debt they're holding for us; once we stop calling those who disagree unpatriotic.

Then I think you'll see a much more outwardly positive America.

I think basically we need a good communicator as President with both morals and sound judgement, and people need to stop knocking America because they don't like the current adminstration. I'll still love America even if God forbid hillary was elected. Sure I'd mourn for America, but I'd still love my country.

Hillary would, at least, appoint competent people in positions where they are needed, unlike the current admin has done.

And she would make another run at health care, which is major.

Then you'd know how I felt when Bush became president … twice.

Assuming you mean you still love your country you should have a talk with your liberal buddies that act like patriotic symbolism is offensive since Bush got in like the goobers that took out the American way from Superman's slogan in Superman Returns.

That's exactly what I mean.

My "liberal buddies" and myself get offended to be told how we are not patriots by those who think differently about the direction the country is taking. I'm not saying you, but I could search the archives, I guess.

Frankly, I don't think Bush and his administration have acted in ways that are not good for America. In fact, I think their traitors.

So does Time Rider fight for America, or some other country?

As long as you say yay America and don't want to take away, the slogan truth, justice, and the American way. I'm good except for the traitor slur. That's not good to call the President. I mean disagree, but don't be disrespectful. I mean come on this ain't the late 1960's.

Time-Rider is from the old school the 1940's like Captain America. He's totally patriotic, and not really into modern ideaologies.
