Would you rather see Captain America by himself in a movie, or as the leader in an Avengers movie?

Ultimate Avengers centered mostly around Cap, and if they wanted, it could even be called Captain America and the Avengers.

What do you think? Does Cap work best alone or leading a team of Superheroes?

I would rather see Cap by himself.

In fact, I was thinking about how I think the movie would come off best.

They've said they want it to be mostly in the present, but start in the 1940s and move him quickly and then have him evaluate our culture through his own perspective--sort of a Back To The Future sort of vibe.

Here's what I'd do if I were writing the story:

Opening credits roll while government files open: project Rebirth, operation super-soldier.  We see the reports and center in on key phrases like "enhanced human performance" and "Peek of human potential."  We see photographs of a skinny Steve Rogers.  We see lines from his file, "Mother passed away" "Father killed while protecting a shop owner."

Then the news clippings fade in, or the camera pans over them.  Photos of Dr. Erskine.  Headline: "Erskine dies, great loss to science." Then more headlines declaring busts of sabotage rings--a strange masked man.  Then photos of Captain America.  More headlines of Cap rescuing citizens.  Then fighting overseas. A picture of Cap and Bucky.

When the credits end we find Cap and Bucky in an office in Brittain.  The war is winding down.  But there's a highly experimental jet plane they've confiscated from Baron Zemo and the Red Skull.  Cap and Bucky must guard the plane and capture the Baron if he tries to steal the plane.

Cap suspects something is strange that they only want Cap and Bucky to guard the plane and don't just surround it with soldiers.  But he follows orders and keeps his eyes open.

Baron does show up and begins to launch the plane.  Bucky goes to stop the plane and override the automatic pilot.  The plane is only taxiing down the runway.

Steve takes out the Baron's men and then knocks out the Baron.  He rushes to help Bucky, riding his motorcycle down the runway after the plane.  He gets on just before it takes off.  They both see the explosives inside the plane.  It is likely going to crash into an allied target.  Cap manages to break a flap on the plane to send it off course toward the arctic.  He reaches for Bucky, but falls off.  The plane blows.

Then cut to present time where Stark Enterprises finds a man frozen in ice.  Stark realizes who it is, he thaws out and is alive.  Shield comes and claims him as a government agen.  They take the costume and the shield and set Steve up with a new life in New York.  He did his service and they don't know if they'll have a use for Captain America anymore.

Steve tries to assimilate into society but finds the culture is very different.  His old neighborhood is poor and run down.  He meets Sam Wilson, a social worker who's running a kids center down from where Steve grew up.

Then Steve witnesses a robery in progress and steps into action.  Takes out three criminals and finds that the woman doesn't appreciate being helped.  Now the men will be back for her later and make her pay for having someone save her.

Steve realizes the world has turned hopless and bitter.  He determines he's going to make a difference. He makes his own costume from kevlar (looks like Nomad) and sets out to fight criminals.

One night he rescues a woman who appears in danger.  She runs off and he follows her through a brick wall.  It is Sharon Carter and he's just found the entrance to a secret Shield base.

Nick talks to him and shows him the headlines that Nomad has been getting.  Nick tells him that he still has a country and that they may  have a use for Captain America after all.  He shows him the most recent terrorist threat.  An unknown terrorist leader has demanded Captain America be delivered to him so he won't blow up a nuclear bomb.  As proof he has already detonated a small nuclear bomb in a subway that morning.  The death toll was only 1,000 people.

They sent an agent dressed in Cap's uniform, but he got captured and is being tortured until the real Cap comes to save him.  His name is John Walker.

Steve agrees and they give him an updated costume with micro-chain mail made of vibranium links so it is lighter and more durable than his other costume.  He gets his old shield back, the triangular one since the fake cap had his other shield.

Cap will be prepared for the assignment by Agent Carter.  She's the grand daughter of Peggy Carter whom Steve knew back with the French Resistance.  She'd heard stories about him.

Cap gets used to his costume by going out like before and fighting crime in the streets.  The city rallys behind him and he makes the news.  Everyone wants him to stop the terrorist.

Cap gets ready to leave and Sharon is with him.  He doesn't want her to go, but she insists.  They get there and fight into the terrorist compound.  Cap recognizes some familiar things that he'd seen back in the office when he and Bucky were given their last assignment.  He realizes that he'd been set up by the general who assigned him.  He was supposed to die on that plane with Bucky.  He finds an old man, the general, who has lured him out.  He's not the terrorist, though.  He leaked the news to the terrorist.  The terrorist is the Red Skull, who has also defied aging.

Cap and Sharon fight the army the Skull has amassed but Sharon gets subdued and the Skull retreats from Cap.  Now the Skull tells him where the bomb is that will blow up the city.  He can either save a whole city, or save Sharon.

Naturally Cap will save both, but I think this would be a story that gets at the heart of who Cap really is and how he relates to our world today.  I hope someone in charge of the project will look at this site sometime.

i would say he works better alone. sometimes heros don't listen to cap. and sometimes they try top take over.

Well yes, but that makes an interesting story right?  Honestly I think it'd be great if they pulled a couple of pages out of the ultimates storybook.  Have Stark on Larry King Live defending the Avengers to the public.  Imagine Wasp on the view with the real cast, or Hannity and Colms debating whether we should deploy superpowered people to Iraq!

The first Cap movie needs to be about Cap and Cap only. After that they can bring in other heroes.

Yes i agree Paladin
ransom, i would agree with you if Cap were in iraq he might need a couple heros on his side.

I think CAP should be introduced by himself in his own movie first. Then the next year or so release the Avengers movie. That way they won't have to waist time on CAP's origin in the Avengers movie and they can get straight to the action.

i think your right.

From what I understand, they are doing a Cap movie then the Iron Man movie, then maybe the Avengers movie.  Speaking of Iron Man, I blame him personally for Cap's death.  No, he didn't pull the trigger, but somehow I figure Cap wouldn't have been in danger if he wasn't in cuffs on his way to court.  At first I wanted someone to give it to Tony Stark, but now I hope he is misserable for the rest of his life, with someone reminding him every once in a while that, "Steve would know what to do."  Suffer Tony, suffer.

-sorry, this is the movie page, not the hate Iron Man page.
