Glory road was AWESOME for basketball!

I played college ball (1993+) but it was so true to what it is like playing on the road at times.

Of course, we didn't have anybody throwing blood in our rooms.

An all american that comes to mind would be Lucas Black, he'd need to get rid of the southern accent but I do see him as a possible Cap.
Posted:  25 Sep 2007 02:21
No, ummm, they're already got an actor.

In my mind..i see only two guys for Cap role..

John Cena or Dolph Lundgren but since Dolph already have done Punisher..it may look strange to see him in Cap role..
Posted:  03 Oct 2007 18:10
There's no way they'd put Dolph Lundgren in the titel role of cap.  John Cena could do it, but I highly doubt they're going to go the wrestler route.

Guys...Cap can't look over thirty at the most.  He was eighteen when he enlisted around 1941.  The war ended in 1945.  That would put him at roughly 22 or 23 when he was frozen.  Throw in a little battle hardness for aging, now you're looking at 25, 26 and depending when the movie brings him out (some say 2005), you're looking at someone who looks like a 28 year old, so that puts Cena and Lundgren out.  I'm thinking of someone along the lines of Tom Welling from Smallville.
Posted:  17 Oct 2007 17:52
You know in comic book time exactly when did Cap get unfrozen? In real time it was way back in the 1960's which would make Cap really old by now. Of course that Fantastic Four kid has been like 8 years old or something since the 1970's. What did he do have a growth spurt and then freeze for 4 decades?

Still I wonder if we had to pin down a time in current continuity what year would Cap have been unfrozen? I always kind of picture him like mid 30's for some reason.

They'll probably make it modern … I've read and heard that the people behind this stuff have been reluctant to do period pieces. A shame, really.

I'm with you; mid 30's is a good age, old enough to know better, young enough to not get all the aches and pains that come with age.  ‘Course, he did have the super soldier formula, so that probably would slow his aging down quite a bit.

Speaking of movies, Thor has a director now.

Exactly the super soldier serum keeps him in tip top health, and being in his 30's seems logical for a character that leads so many other heroes.

I actually always envisioned him as early 40's, but in great shape.

He's beent hrough so much and done so much that he's always seemed older.  He's more than a leader, he's a father figure to the Avengers, and that takes a wee bit o' age, I'd wager.

Yeah, it's hard to figure that Steve Rodgers was in his early 20's when he took on the CA title.  Maybe the SSS aged him to the perfect physical age and it probably also spiked his already high intellect.

It might have been 20 years since he got unfrozen.

Personally either Aaron Ekhart or Clive Owen would make good a good Steve Rogers, maybe Elijah Wood as Bucky, Kurt Russell as Nick Fury, Rebecca Romijn as Sharon Carter aka Agent 13 and I'm not to sure about who should be Red Skull.
Posted:  03 Jan 2008 20:33
Kurt Russell as Nick Fury or perhaps Dennis Quaid ?
Aaron Eckhart ? Why not? I'm not so sure about Clive Owen, though...He looks too british, we need someone who's going to be your typical american working class average guy , but, so far, I have no suggestions...

George of the jungle?  Encino Man?  The Frickin' Mummy?  He's a good actor, sure, but he's no Steve Rogers.

P.D. STEVE ROGERS IS NOTHING BUT A SUPERMARINE.

No.  He's an Army Ranger.  He's one of the "Big-red-one":  the FIRST American forces to land on Normandy beaches, the guys that climbed the cliffs and sabotaged the big guns.  That's PRE D-day.

Dane looks the part based on what I've seen.  Wade however...something's not right for Cap.  Maybe the hair?

The thing is, you don't need a THOR build.  The serum  counteracts the atrophy of the muscular system and destroys exhaustion-related anabolic acid.  The build of an extremely well-toned body, that's what Cap needs.

I'd like to see some hulking weightlifter training on the pommel horse (like Cap frequently does) or running a minute-mile for 30 minutes, or training on the rings.  You really think an in-his-prime Lou Ferrigno could dodge grease-guns, hurtle over nazis, land in a crouch and sweep-kick them before they knew what happened?  how about do all that while throwing with so great a precision (while flying through the air) a 10-pound discus so well that it ricochets off two stormtroopers before he catches it on the fly.

Cap's advantage lies not in his size but in his training.

"With the right leverage a person can overcome an opponent of any size." came from Tales of Suspense I think.

That all said, it's too bad Robert Redford isn't in his late 20's anymore.  He's got the speech patterns, the facial asthetic...the blonde hair...the draw from the ladies I guess.

Keep in mind that he (Cap) dated Peggy Carter AND Sharon.  He's made-out with Wanda Maximoff, slept around with Diamondback, done the nasty with MODOK's lawyer sister...the list goes on and on.

Over 67 years...

It did say that Samuel L. Jackson wanted to play

although he is pretty good for nick fury in the " Ultimate Avengers"
kind.

If you havent heard Bucky or winter soilder is becoming the NEW captain america i already got a sneek peak at what he looks like!!!

BUT... i'm really confused... 1 comic says that Cap is in Iraq, one says he is just in a random war, and the last one says He's dead for good.

BUT... if they are making a a Cap movie for REAL... most people would know about it.

Quote:
I am a huge fan of cap... but we would know for sure if they're making a cap movie.

!!!

A good movie takes about so many years, right?
So we half to wait a while. We want it to be good Right???

So it would probaly come out in oh say... 2013 somewhere around that number.

What i am really worried about is that if Cap is dead for good? Or is going to be alive again

!!!

Right now people say

Quote:
" Cap is dead... no one is really into him, you know."

Or

Quote:
"He has been around a long time, somwhere in his life time he needs to die."

Those are some of them, people are more interested in Iron Man, Spider Man, and Fantasic Four...Because THEY CAME OUT WITH MORE MOVIES!!!

Here's my question...

WHY CAN"T THEY COME OUT WITH LOTS OF CAP MOVIES?!?!

He's been around so long you can make like over 20 movies, but NO!!!

!!!

Cap rules!

Brad Pitt was actually the front runner for awhile, and Troy proved he could handle a shield.  He's always been a good actor (Cool World not withstanding).  However, the whole cheating on his wife with Angelina Jolie rep that he got (substantiated or not) kinda ruined that.

That's the bitch of doing a Cap movie, and why they will take as much time as they need.  With the way Cap literally represents our country, and with the way much of the world detests us anyway, they want to make sure that the movie doesn't portray the US in a bad light, or make us a target for any more bitching and moaning than we already get.

In my mind, the best way to do a Cap movie is set entirely in WWII.  Establish the Red Skull as not only Hitler's right hand, but looking to take over the Reich himself.  Show Cap in a realistic uniform similar to the one in the Ultimates flashbacks, have Bucky at his side (but NOT in a costume) helping him out.  The end of the movie would be Cap and Buck saving the day, sending in the troops to finish the job, and sacrificing themselves for the greater good.  We see Bucky blow up (we all know better by now) and Cap fall in the water, motionless, and then a block of red, white, and blue ice gets pulled out of the water by hands we can't exactly see, but we can guess they belong to the Avengers.

Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Las Vegas on NBC) could be a good Cap.  He's got a good build, can act, and the ladies like him.  He's got that guy next door look that you can trust, which Cap needs.

Liev Schreiber is my first choice for the Red Skull, although Clive Owen or Gerard Butler would be good, too.

I blame my kids for even knowing this shit, but in the younger genre (re: a kid to play Bucky), Zac Efron is a good actor, and I'm sure he's dying to get away from all the Disney Channel bullshit and get a real acting role.  Fighting it out in WWII with America's greatest living weapon might help him get a real career, and away from High School Musicals or Hairspray with John Travolta in drag.

If they wanted to throw in another villain, Kane (WWE, See No Evil) would be a great Crossbones.  When you hear him when he's not in character, he's a very intelligent guy, and I bet he could pull off the pure sadistic-ness of Bones.

If it has to be set in the present, Julia Styles would make a great Sharon Carter.  She tends to have that I'm too good to be a slut attitude, but can sometimes be just flat out sexy, too.

Samuel L. Jackson would be a fantastic Nick Fury.  If not him, then Kurt Russell, Dennis Quaid, or Gary Sinise.

Jessica Beil or Rosario Dawson would make a good Black Widow.  They can both act, and are sexy as Hell.

Thoughts?

imho, an actor to play captain america almost has to be born to play him... great physique(tall, good jaw line, muscular yet athletic) commanding voice, military background, and so on.

one name i want to throw in the mix for the role would be Mike O'Hearn, or better known as titan from American Gladiators. Former all natural bodybuilder champion, martial artist, actor, and he seems to look the role. even though i don't think he would be the best actor or that people would take him serious due to american gladiators. none the less i think he has a good shot.

for the story line i think they might due a WWII story and end with the missle sending CAP into the sea. and then avengers starting off with Sam Jackson finding him in an giant ice cube. What do you think?

My thoughts are for an unknown. . .the man to play cap should be patriotic. . .military background. . .looks can be dealt with. . .but the image will come across the screen. . .and the history of the man playing it will add to the roll. . .

What about Dolph Lundgren?  He has the physique, the characters he has done lately have been good characters and well done.  In Defender, he looked a little worn but a lot of that was makeup with scars from torture carrying on.  I actually liked him better in the original Punisher than the remake they did of it.  He's come a long way from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

I'd go for Josh Duhamel, I've been saying that for a couple of years - he played a military roles in Transformers pretty well.

McCounaghey is frakkin' liberal hippie scum that once got arrested for being doped out of his mind, playing the bongo drums naked at his home in Austin, TX - no joke, Google it.

I recently saw "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" with Downey Jr. and Shia LaBouf. I really like the gritty performance of a young, tall, strong kid named Tatum Channing, who I understand is playing "Duke" in the GI Joe movie. Too bad the producers of GI Joe nabbed him first because I think his performance in "Saints" would've translated well to a fractured hero like NY's Steve Rogers.

I don't get what is so hard about finding someone for this damn movie.  Cap is 6'2 240lbs.  I wish Randy Couture could play the part but you always hear oh he can't act.  He is too busy being a real life captain america right now anyways. But seriously there are all kinds of actors out there.  Get a no name guy.  I am sick of bandwagoneer's forget, B. Pitt, Cena, Affleck, Matthew Mcconaawhatsit, and Arnold S.  Doesn't anyone remember Star Wars.  Was a lot of big name actors in that one? No H. Ford only had one movie before that and that was about it.  If you see an actor you already know you associate all of his movies that he has done before and that isn't fair to the character.  Just like the F-ing Wolverine.  He is only supposed to be 5'3 not 5'10'-6'00ft.  Just respect the comics for once.
