A bunch of big regular Marvel Comics series are being canceled in October in preparation for the big Marvel Now promotion!

Nine titles are ending including Captain America!

The complete list includes Fantastic Four, FF, Captain America, Invincible Iron Man, Mighty Thor, Incredible Hulk, New Mutants, Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Legacy.

No word yet on when some of these titles will be coming back or if they're coming back at all. So far the only series that is confirmed to be a part of Marvel NOW! that is on the solicits is Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers.

I'm telling you I hate all the restarts. I guess mainly because I tend to buy my comics from cheap boxes, and it's easier to keep track of and collect complete stories if the comics don't have more than one number 6,7,8, and so on.

Plus this really makes number one issues not that special anymore from a collector's point of view.

A few comic store owners tell me, when Marvel cancels a title or run, the customers tend to stop collecting that title.  They might not come back for the relaunch.

I guess we're seeing the results of the new marketing team when Disney replaced the current team a couple of years ago.

The thing about good jumping on points....is they are also good jumping OFF points. And that will be the case for many casual fans.

We are hardcore Cap fans here so I'll probably always buy Cap in whatever form it is in but, yes, too many restarts that a new #1 does not feel special anymore. But, I guess, Cap is all about Rebirth.

But they just started last year with this new run. They are getting shorter and shorter with these runs before they hit the reset button. They have to find a way to sell comics without always relying on reboots (DC) and restarts (Marvel). Short term gains while, long term, they keep losing readers.

I've been reading cap ever since his rebirth in Avengers # 4 vol.1, but if the costume in the promo picture above is what he'll look like, I may not return to his title. Plus the Nick Fury Jr. bites. Give me the classic Nick Fury just like Classic Coke.
Movies should be adapted from the comics, not the comics from the movies!

I agree with JBB. Comics are a much vaster wealth of story and art than movies. The heart of the story lies in the comics.

I don't mind taking characters from comics and having to chop them up a bit for movies. You just can't do in a movie what you can do in a comic. I DO mind when they take crappy bits of movies and canonize them into comics.

Unfortunately, movies drive way more sales of comics & toys than comics drive sales of merch.
