Thanks guys. I had thought to get some of Jim Lee's art of Cap that he did in the X-men comics, but i opted for a more classic John Romita design.

As far as DC & Marvel having a connection, I know that on several accounts they'll make fun of eachother. Did anyone pick up one of the more recent issues of Fantastic Four when Thing went to paris and joined this knock off Justice League?

Also, Luke Cage would be an interesting choice as Captain America. I almost don't have a problem with that. John Walker is out of the US, he defected to Canada to lead Omega Flight. (panzy)

I didn't read much of it, but what about Isaiah Bradley?

Cap coudnt be replaced but punisher will probably be filling in. Cap, Get wellsoon

I wish to be fair to the writers at marvel, but I have one mafor beef about cap's death. Captain America is a legend, a hero of tremendous status. To have such a powerful hero cut down by an ordinary sniper's bullet is unworthy of his stature. If cap had to die, why not at the hands of a worthy adversary-e.g. Red Skull? At least Superman died after a titanic battle with Doomsday, and after saving the earth from him. Cap deserved at least that much respect. I hope they bring him back if only to give him more opportunities to fight for us. A legend should not go that easily.

Well, Thor gone through Ragnorak (Death of gods), and he's coming back, since he's magic and such.  Awhile ago Marvel killed off Iron man and replaced him with a teenage Tony Stark from another timeline, fortunately for the powers of Franklin Richards, that teeny Tony became that adult superhero dominating SOB.  Heck they even ressurrected Aunt May (She was in a virtual world created by the Green Goblin and a look-a-like died to mess with Peter Parker's head).  At DC, Barry Allen, silver age Flash is coming back (Or came back, I have to look it up.).
So, in the meanwhile, on the other boards there are talk on Frank Castle replacing Cap (Which would be tough since his War Journal is doing well).
How about Moon Knight?  Cap/Rogers could become one of his personality?
However, I'm hoping Winter Soldier/Bucky becomes Cap.  Only Kid Flash/Wally West ever a sidekick became the leading man/hero (I'm not including Grayson because he only filled in as Batman for a few books.)
This will be great. Bucky becomes Cap, Iron man has to deal with the Red Skull and Sharon Carter, and the whole Marvel Earth falls apart without the real Captain America, and the Hulk returns to Earth to get revenge.  Great time to be reading Marvel.

I really really hope they don't wait as long as they did to bring Thor back to bring Cap back. Don't think they will, but that would be terrible to have to wait that long.

My last comic purchase was Iron Fist back in the 70s, but I decided to get back into them now that I have a young son so we could read them together.  Anyway, I couldn't believe it.  I sign up for a subscription to Cap America (among others) and literally the next week he is dead!  I also signed up to the "New Avengers" and I heard they are possibly disbanding?  I sure know how to pick them!  As I looked at the subscriptions available I could not help but think they were mostly based upon the movie releases, as most of the cool super heroes aren't available.   I miss Iron Fist and Sgt Fury, among others.

Anyway, I still think the Captain is great and I don't think he'll be gone for long.  I never understood the "substitution" of super heros (e.g. the Punisher filling in).  What's the reasoning/point or rather why would any other super hero want to put on another's costume?  I don't get that idea, although I know it happens.

I happen to like the Green Lantern too (another "back from the dead" hero) so I don't understand some of the "DC" bashing I see around the lists.  I'm more a fan of the actual super heroes than of the publishing house!

Sorry to be so long winded - 1st post.

The nice lady on the phone at Marvel told me that after Civil War: Fallen Son ends after five issues, that Captain America restarts at Issue No. 1 (Again!) and there will be a Captain America. She said she didn't know who would be Captain America but she also said "He's a Super-hero, he can't die." More and more this feels like a stunt as opposed to a legitimate story line.

Yeah, I got a note with my subscription that basically said the same thing. Just hope Cap is Steve Rogers when he returns.

What about Clint Barton taking up the mantle of Captain America. I mean he is currently back from the dead feels betrayed by Wanda is a leader and has the skills. Plus he's one of the few Avengers who ever seemed to realize what an SOB Tony is at heart.

Iron man confession was to captain america
that he said he waswilling to go all the way
but he really wasnt
and that this was not worth it
and then you see cap laying there with his shield on top of him coverd with blood

With all the "hinting" on the web site about The Punisher playing the role, I have to wonder if it's just a false lead.......I'd be surprised if they follow thru & not go a different direction as that would keep it interesting.  Looks to me like The Punisher may however revenge the Caps death - is he wearing that star on his head in honor of the Cap?
Posted:  15 Mar 2007 22:18
I almost wonder if some of the other heroes will follow suit in having their costumes pay tribute to Captain America?

Just to let everyone know, I just picked up Captain America #25 today. It's been restocked on shelves. Save your money and DON'T buy them off the popular auction sites. Both covers are on sale. The second printing will be out at the end of the month.

Nice work, CapnCrunch. I think I speak for everyone when I thank you for your contribution to our budgets and to our cereal.

Yeah, check this. Because I missed out last week, i went ahead and bought a subscription from my local comic shop. They said some issues of captain america 25 should be in this week. So i go in yesterday to pick up my subscription titles and the guy said "they're 10 bucks, but club members get 'em for 8" all making it out like he's doing me a favor. I only got two comic shops in town here so I have to deal with this from time to time.

And why hasn't there ever been a CapN America cereal?!

Hi all,This is the first time i posted a message here.I been a long time fan of Captain America,I grew up reading his stories,I remember my Grandmother buying me my first Captain America comic, Issue 167. I must of read it 1000 times and i still love it.I had all his Issues collected by the time I was 15 years old even his tales of suspense issues.I havent missed a issue in 30 years now(wow has it been that long)All I can say about his so called death is Steve Rodgers is Captain America the living legend of world war 2 no one else can ever take his place.Someone can put on a red white and blue suit and say they are,but they could never live up to the legend Steve Rodgers made Captain America into.If Steve Rodgers is dead,Captain America is dead.Long live Steve Rodgers Living legend of world war 2.

i think thats what they are looking for in the story
no one can ever be as perfect as Steve
so we see the new cap. trying to live up to that quta
its what makes the marvel heroes special, right
thats what the have been saying for 50 years now

Signed up here just today.

Read the scenes between Spidey and Cap, where Cap quotes Mark twain...one of my early influences about
true patriotism.

Great scene.
great words.
great art.
Great...everything.

Fucking amazing...how so much greta truth is still coming out of comics today.
Stunned no one in any of the major news organizations haven't seen this comic...and borrowed those same words...whenever a story about Iraq or Bush or the Conservative agenda gets nutty again.

And I'm ex-Army...so no complaints about my patrotism.

Cap said it best...

When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree besides the river of truth, and tell the whole world--

--No you move."

No complaints here except for maybe the f word usage, but you know those words from Twain could go either way politically depending on your perspective for just about anything really.

Still, I'm glad you found them inspirational. I thought it was really cool too when I read that issue. http://captain-america.us/articles/civil-war.htm

Guys I know this is a side point but one thing has been bothering me a bit. I remeber when they had John Walker taking up the Captain America Mantle again in the Invaders relaunch. Still maybe I am misremebering or something but When Steve came back after the first John Walker run as Captain America didn't the Goverment Turn over the name and costume right to Steve in exchange for the Captain uniform to be used as U.S. Agent. I haven't gone digging through my back issues yet, but some where I think I remeber the goverment liasion the short chubby one with the mustach and the glasses along with the Blond with the name Valerie or Veronica or something like that who became the head of the Superhuman Commission making that trade. Anyone else remeber this?

That whole US Agent thing is a bit fuzzy to me.

Well if Cap isn't dead, its gonna have to be one hell of an explanation. I mean, granted, you can't forget. We still don't know what is up with Nick Fury, but he's orchestrating alot of things. Also, lets not forget, this is the same series that killed Red Skull in the 1st issue.
