Forget AHH-nold, or Ben Affleck, too puffy and too small (Affleck would've been like that Salinger guy in that awful 90s Cap movie.)
Wizard suggested Howie Long, check him out in that phone ads and Fox's sports net, or his movie Firestorm. He's big, has a muscular body, but he doesn't have any charisma or presence that would make me want to follow him into battle (A MUST in Cap's character.)
There's Paul Walker, Fast and the Furious, again like Affleck, small and lacks that PHYSICAL PRESENCE that's much needed.  (maybe some time in the gym, Charlie Sheen did it for his role in Hot Shot 2)

Cap must be good looking, handsome, big, but not dumb (it's a tendency that good looking big guys must be gay or dumb),  charismatic and charming (think Tobie Maguire in Spiderman), and above all, confident and assure (but not arrogant).

Anyone want to weigh in?  I later saw Jamie Baber (Apollo on Battlestar Galactica) on Ghost Whisperer, he looked great, but need to work out a bit more to play Cap.
Plus, who do you want to play the female spy/love interest for Cap?  Kiera Knightly, Scarlett Johannsan, or Rachel McAdams (I'm leaning towards Rachel).  And should a Blond girlfriend fit Cap/Steve Rogers?   I think it would be a distraction if it was anyone but a blond girlfriend.

Well I reckon everybody agrees you need a good actor who looks the part. I guess that's actually kind of hard when you think about it. As much as these movies cost and make I say maybe get a new guy that looks the part and put him into physical training and acting till he fits the part perfectly.

Only one name comes to mind: Matt Damon. Sure, he's kinda scrawny, but I hate the idea of a muscle man as Captain America. Captain America may be pretty buff, but all comic book characters are.

Sure, Damon is short, but it's a movie. Some crews dig holes for taller actors to walk in to get the size. Not saying to do that, just saying a short man can play upwards of 6 5 or whatever.

I think he could pull off the attitude, as somebody who starts off idealist but by the end is strong, determined, and  firm in his beliefs.

Of course, I've written my treatment already because I'm a loser, and would also like to see a pre U.S. Agent John Walker. Which is why I want Rogers to be less intimidating. Because Walker is, in my mind, the doppleganger. Not a bad guy, but both equal and opposite.

You know, they may have to go the same route as they did in the new Superman movie and get someone we've never seen or heard of. If Christian Bale hadn't been Batman he might have been a good choice or if Kurt Russell was about maybe 20 years younger like when he did Soldier he'd be perfect. Hell he may even still work I haven't seen him for a minute. Just an idea.

John Cena is a joke.

Not only is Cena an untalented wrestler but his gimmick is so lame that putting him in the Cap costume would be stupid. I would not be able to suspend my disbelief because all I would see is that idiot doing the "You can't see me" crap with his hand. An unknown would probably be the best choice for Cap. However, other members have made suggestions of known actors that look like they could pull it off.

I agree they should find an Unknown for Cap. It seems to work best. However being unknow we can't talk about them. Of the actors we do know I think Daniel Goddard from Beast Master the Series showed some real talent on that show.
On a side not I think it might be fun to turn Emil Erskin into a Wunder kin and have Adam Broady from the OC play him. I know this would kind of twist the Father/son relationship that is normally made between Cap and Erskin but it might be fun.
Love interest is harder. Kiera Knightly, Scarlett Johannsan, or Rachel McAdams have all been suggested but I don't know none of them feel right to me. They are all beautiful and good actress but they just don't seem right. I think they would be best served by going with unknown's in both roles.
For the Red Skull I was thinking they could do a Lucas manuver and have very physically intimidating guy play the body and get a real heavy hitter providing the voice. Or even not so heavy a hitter ans just use a really good voice over actor.

Posted:  12 Mar 2007 23:58
Adam Sandler is cool. I think he's the only one in hollywood that gets away with being politically incorrect. Of course maybe the Hollywood wienies are afraid he'll kick their butts if they say something to him.

So I am sorry, I'll stop I know better than this, besides my Grandpa was a Marine in World War II he would kick my but for giving a Marine a hard time. So Thank you for all you have done for our country you guys are the best! And for the crappy gramar I was in a Hurry that particular time. My son needed to get to a hockey try out and I just wanted to get my opinion in. So once again there corporal no hard feelings eh.

Cap=Brendan Frazier "Mummy,Bedazzled,Crash" Red Skull=Arnold of course
Posted:  14 Mar 2007 13:34
I forgot Daniel Goddard, Beastmaster tv show, (too skinny, could be Steve Rogers before Rebirth serum.).
There was a movie, Fresh and Blood, starring Rutger Huer (Great actor, too old nowadays), but that actor literally stole that entire movie. I remember watching him (He was a bad guy), and I ended up rooting for him. For this movie, the actor playing Cap has to take over the scenes, make us want to root for him, worry about him when he's in danger, and believe in him when he leads soldiers into battle.
Rodney Downey Jr. for Iron man?  I was hoping someone looking like Tom Selleck or Timothy Dalton for the Playboy/adventurer Tony Stark/Iron man.
Cap, has to be a leader, confident and charismatic.

Actually, I was never one those guys who hated other services. We all do the same job regardless of what branch were in.

Mine too. My other grandfather was Army over in the European theatre.

Yes

It was Chicago from the age of 11 until they traded Roenick. That was the straw that broke the camels back.

I grew up with the 'Chuck' Norris division; hockey law states I can't like Minnesota, Detroit, Toronto or St. Louis. I'll watch any game that's on. I love this sport and it doesn't matter who is playin.
