Just heard Cap's co creator just passed away.
Wish I would have had the chance to meet him, he was an absolute legend in the comics world.

Definitely very sad news today!

Quote:
The legendary comic book writer who created iconic Marvel superhero Captain America in 1941 has sadly passed away at the age of 98.
The Beat reports that Joe Simon, creator of Captain America, the Sandman, the Fly and many, many more has passed away at the age of 98. This site claim that this sad news was revealed by his son on Facebook.

I made him a birthday card about two years ago, I'm going to try and find photos if it and post it here again. Sad day indeed.....

I was really hoping he would make it to 100. But I guess we knew this day was coming eventually.

I did get to see him at the San Diego con in 1998 and got my one and only Simon-autographed book last year. I read his book above during the summer and I'm glad he got to see the Cap movie. His grand children are even on the DVD in the bonus section when they were at the Hollywood premiere.

This and Jerry Robinson the other week. We just lost some great ones for the industry. Not many links with the Golden Age left so get out and see these older creators at the con while you can.

Rest well, Joe!
You did good!
