After watching HBO's Generation kill I'm convinced Alexander Skarrsgard(Iceman)should be Cap. He looks exactly like Brubaker's Cap! Just look at these clips and you will know what I mean.

Captain America Set in WW2
First Avenger plot details revealed.
by Orlando Parfitt, IGN UK
UK, October 6, 2008 - Warning: Spoilers Ahead! Production Weekly (spotted by cinemablend.com) has a plot synopsis for the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America, which provides several story details about the patriotic hero.

The most important revelation is that, rather than a contemporary take on the Cap'n, the film will focus on Steve Rogers' exploits during WW2.

Here's a fuller plot synopsis: "Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by "vita-rays." Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers."

We are not sure how this will tie in with The Avengers movie, which will feature fellow Marvel characters -- such as Tony Stark and Nick Fury -- whose own movies are set in the present day.

[Editor's Note: It would make total sense if they go with the Ultimate storyline and have the character frozen at the end of the Cap film, and then have him thawed out in the Avengers movie.]

The First Avenger: Captain America is currently pencilled in for a May 6, 2011 release]

I still say to make ONE movie, just Captain America.  Big battles, cool lines, great character, and a movie that'll stand alone and able to watch over and over again even if you're not a Cap fan.  If this movie does well, there will be a second Cap movie, and the Avengers movie would've explained how he got to the modern times.  This movie would reflect the great Steve Englehart Cap books, where Cap was rooted to problems of modern city life and racial tensions.  With the Black Panther cartoons and Iron Man movies as backdrops, they could introduce a cool Falcon character with jazzed up wings and look to compete with Cap's dominant character.

The movie better be at least an intense and I mean INTENSE like "R" rated film, or a really bad "PG-13".
And that HBO guy, like every Marvel dircetor says, for instance in your stance, once and Iceman always and Iceman.

The plan is already set for The First Avenger Cap movie in WWII in 2011 and a month or two later you get the Avengers movie. So the assumption is you get one WWII movie, he gets frozen, then revived for the Avengers movie in modern day.

And the hints for Cap are already there with Nick Fury and the Avengers Initiative at the end of the Iron Man movie, Cap's shield or a replica in Stark's lab during the movie and the brief glimpse of Cap in ice in the arctic in the Hulk movie which got cut but, with the new DVD next week, you can see the cut scene but only if you know what to look for...

Just looked up that "cameo."  Sooooooooooo disappointing.  I know that to speak of the 1991 film is blasphemy here, but there was one redeeming scene in it.  When Cap is found in Alaska (WTF?) he's lying on some sorta table thawing out, and as the lackeys surrounding him debate what that thing is in the ice, his red-gloved hand, still frozen, twitches just a bit.  The camera centers on the extended index finger and it twitches, then his hand slowly clenches into a fist and then he busts out of the Cap-sicle.  I was kind of hoping for Banner to come across some frosted pane of ice and the camera would focus in on the red-white-and-blue shadowy figure with perhaps an edge of the shield or a finger tip exposed.  Sigh.  Oh well, here's hoping they can recreate that scene in Avengers.

On another note, PLEASE, MARVEL STUDIOS, USE THOR AS A SPRINGBOARD AND HAVE LOKI BE THE VILLAIN LIKE IN AVENGERS #4.  It grounds Thor somewhat in the real world (kinda sorta) and links him with the universe of the other heroes.   It also links Hulk into the whole mythos as well (for those who don't know, Loki incited the Hulk to violence in order to get at Thor).  That creates threads from each of the various heroes' solo films feeding into the team-up.  Stark's tech as the foundation for the team, Fury's Avenger Initiative, Banner's smile at the end of IH (perhaps it's Loki controlling him or otherwise influencing him?  He is the god of mischief, after all, and that was quite the mischievous smile), Loki and Thor's dynamic from that film, and of course Cap getting unfrozen.

Well in my humble opinion I've found my candidate for the role of Sharon Carter.... Jewel Staite aka Dr. Jennifer Keller on Stargate Atlantis. I'm pasting a link to the cast page. http://www.scifi.com/atlantis/cast/keller/
Just picture her with her hair lightened to a blonde.
To top it off she can really, really act.

Pole I agree with the intensity and highly recommend this series it is extremely accurate. So does that mean you like Alexander skarsgard or not? BTW he is an ex marine. JBB I always saw Charlize Theron as Sharon. On another subject how would everyone feel if James Marsden played Cap?
Posted:  17 Oct 2008 22:29
Marsden has been in the X-Men movies and Superman Returns. While it may not be fair to the actor, I'd like to find an actor who isn't already recognized for other hero movies.

Theron could pull of Sharon. I still like Biel though.

what about the guy from boston legal "mark valley" he looks just like what you would think cap would look like build and face he has it all and a pretty good actor

Honestly guys. I do believe we need an unknown guy to play Cap. In my opinion, it would be like getting a guy that sounded like Peter Cullen to do Optimus Prime's voice (which they have done UGH!). It just doesnt sound right. We have to have a guy that can literally be Cap! And is Cap that bulky?!

There's differences.
And do you know how hard it is for US to find the perfect Cap?
I'd like you to choose.

So the release date has been pushed back to July 22nd 2011 on the Cap Film.

However it seems like they are writing the next few films all to tie in together as one large universe.

Which means that the Avengers Movie (in 2012) will likely begin with Cap's reawakening in the Distant Future. (having been out of circulation for more than 60 years.)
