The role of Captain America would be a completely different character for ANY actor chosen to play the part.Jensen Ackles does have the ability to change into a completely different character. The movie Devour, for one. In NO WAY is Dean Winchester (J.A.'s Supernatural character) like Jake Gray (J.A. in Devour). And then there was Ackles's prefession theatre debut. He played Lt. Daniel Kaffee in A Few Good Men opposite Lou Diamond Phillips. He's got the goods (physically and professionally). My vote goes to Mr. Jensen Ross Ackles. __________________Spin the tires, light the fires.

Now I've always Thought Of Cap as a man that stature-wise is someone that is at the peak of what is humanly possible in physical fitness not some overly muscle bound Jarhead and casting someone like a wrestler or a person the likes of the guvinator or dolph is not quite right he's more of a thoughabred racehorse than rhino.
Also Cap is supposed to be the living embodiment of 'Be All You Can Be' he's a man that inspires people with his very prescence I think that its going to be a very hard pair of boots to fill. i'm not sure that Jensen Ackles has the chops to play Cap no offence to him I enjoy Supernatural he just doesn't seem the right fit
Now for the person who I think has Kinda the look of Cap about him Marc Blucas, Not sure If his acting skill could fill the suit but who knows can't say i've really seen him in anything since Buffy.

I think LDC would be fine. If Will Smith can do Ali, Leo can do Cap. First and foremost, he is an actor, and that's what Marvel wants playing their characters. He will be trained up, buffed and wearing a muscle suit for sure. Most importantly, he has age on his side. Every time I hear Matthew MacConaughey's name come up, I cringe in fear! He is already way too old. I think a possible exception to this is Brad Pitt, plus he can open a film. They should definitely avoid wrestlers and sportsmen...Captain America has to be the most actorly challenge of all the big four Marvel heroes. He's the hardest sell, so they'll need someone with range. I wouldn't be against an unknown, or a TV actor, but I don't think Marvel will go that way, as it might unbalance the actor-range they are currently working within...Downey Jr, Norton etc. DeCaprio as Cap would creat a huge buzz, a la the the other two.

That guy looks more like a person from the street trying to make money by dressing as Captain America!
Quote: I think it's Matthew McConaughey... or am I just crazy? Enough with the picking out the freakin' actor, we fight about who is going to be the new Cap, we could be wrong, we could be right, all of this stuff on the new actor is just our own opinon!
The director will choose.

I think the best choice would be an unknown. There would be NO preconceptions about the actor, and just look at the performance and character. The problem with a big name 'star' is that people tend to look at the public persona and NOT the CHARACTER that he is playing. The important thing is a GOOD Captain America movie, brought to the screen by an actor who does well by the CHARACTER that we all know and love.

Hm... Now, I never really thought about Casper Van Dien, but now that the name and face comes to mind, the more and more I like the idea. He's known by many, but he's not as "up there" as some of the other actors that have been suggested on the board. I could definately see him as Captain America. __________________Spin the tires, light the fires.

Isn't he the guy who played in Hancock? Anyways Casper Van Dien looks like Cap and he has the right build, plus Military experience.

I really like the Jason Bateman-as-Cap shots...but I'm not totally convinced. I like C Van D, he was great in Starship Troopers, for example. I suspect he's a shorter actor, though. The actor playing Cap would have to be around 6 foot 4, surely? I just had a thought...I know he's English, but Rupert Penry-Jones (from SPOOKS) could work.

Quote: Hancock is Will Smith
Yeah I know that, I'm talking about the other guy who's name is Ray and who's wife (Charlize Theron) was Hancock's wife like thousands of years ago. Wait, I just looked it up and it is Jason Bateman.
Quote: Just because he has Military experience doesn't mean he can play Cap
I also said he looks like Cap and he has the right build to play Cap.

Quote: Face it guys the person who is going to play Cap is unknown.
Excuse the lowered intelligence of the following statement, but... Duh, Pole805!
The point of this board - I personally believe - is to suggest who we think would be right for the part of Captain America. All I've seen from your posts, Pole805, is you shooting down our ideas. I am not arguing the fact that you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I like reading others' opinions, but... come on... Who do you think would be a good choice - if you had to choose?
I'm dying to know, since we already know your opinion on just about every other actor everyone else has suggested thus far...
Other than that, though... Here: I found this picture on Google. Good picture of a good looking man, LoL. For your consideration...

Alright, Im sorry, my personal choice would be: A realistic Animation Movie. So there you got my idea.

Now that I've gotten a good look at this Casper guy, umm yeah, he would be a great todays Cap.
Oh, and P.s. If Casper is going to play, he's going to need to shave the beard.

Exactly what I would've said CaptainSanDiego!

You never answered the question. The question was "who do you think should play Cap".
Quote: Now that I've gotten a good look at this Casper guy, umm yeah, he would be a great todays Cap.
Glad you think so.
Quote: Oh, and P.s. If Casper is going to play, he's going to need to shave the beard.
Wow, how stupid could you possibly be (no offense). Casper Van Dien most of the time never has a beard. Look up more pictures of him. Most of them he doesn't have a beard. So do us all a favor and watch the film Starship Troopers or some other film with Casper Van Dien in it, but I prefer Starship Troopers. It's a Military Science Fiction action film about Earth fighting giant bugs. So do us all a favor and please watch it.

There were one good scene of Matt Salinger wearing that Cap suit, a couple of shots of Matt throwing that shield, and some beautiful Italian women, that I can remember what's good about that 90s movie. With Ronny Cox, Ned Beatty and Darren McGavin, this movie still sucked. It was too amateurish, obviously looked like it was made on a dime and had so many bad dialogues and cheesy effects and fight scenes, that made me cring and moan like watching those campy Ghostrider demons.
That Mark Valley and Steve Burton looked good. I'm sorry, Casper Van Dien, I just not getting any leadership vibes from you. There has to be some appeal or presence in an actor to make us want to watch you for 2 to 2 and half hours. Harrelson Ford had it when I watched those Indiana Jones movies, Connery, Mcguire, Downey Jr, all had that presence that made us love the character and movie. That movie, the Phantom, with Billy Zane, was a good movie, with a strong story and an attractive female, Kristy Swanson (I think); Zane did a good job, but didn't have that presence to attract more movie goers to this film.
Hopefully, this Cap movie will have great action/army scenes, a costume and look that'll make Cap look commanding and charismatic, good and decent dialogs, great supporting casts, ...and for the non-Cap fans, they'll get to see a great movie, a great leader and someone that represents the good in people, and a proud patriotic movie about fighting for freedom and rights.

In the pic right above this with his shirt off he looks smaller than Kevin Bacon (arrow pointing up)...

Take at look at the ears too (arrow pointing up and to the left....???)
???????????
I say Mark Paul right now. But if Steve Rogers can even read lines he is a lock.

Casper should be cast as Bucky, tie him to a bomb and blow him to hell in the first 1/2 of the film.
