So check it out. I bought a Comic Con exclusive Cap t-shirt off eBay. It's a Camp Lehigh army issue shirt with the name S. Rogers and a serial #. On the back and sleeve it has this really cool logo that says Strategic Scientific Reserve.

This leads me to believe that Steve Rogers is enlisted, as previously noted in another post, and that he was allowed into the army as a lab rat, of sorts. Of course, we all know what happens when vita rays and the super-soldier serum get in the mix!

I love this t-shirt! I'm wearing it now.

I am digging this whole Strategic Scientific Reserve angle. It is ripe for a set piece that allows relationships to develop between Steve Rogers, Bucky, Dr. Erskine and maybe even Nick Fury and Howard Stark on weapons/tech(the shield!).

I wouldn't mind seeing Howard Stark for sure. That would be a nice touch.

Howard Stark has been cast, so you can bet he will be the one developing the technology behind that shield that will allow it to "boomerang" back into Cap's hands after knocking some Nazi's the f*ck out.

I'm not quite sure what we're discussing here.  But Steve Roger's mebership in the Military as a private first class is well established.

It's a cool shirt and logo, obviously for the movie.  I'm enviour that you got to comiccon, some day.

It is a question as to weather or not he was in the military before becoming a super soldier, which theoretically this shirt establishs, but his membreship in the armed forces isn't in question.

Yeah, the question has been: will they give us the classic army-reject Steve Rogers being taken by government agents into a curio shop, then going down into the secret lab to be transformed, then he LATER gets enlisted at camp Lehigh ... OR ... is the movie going to take some liberties and have Steve already enlisted in the army at Camp Lehigh, thus he is not a reject, but a fit-for-duty private first class in this 'Scientific Reserve'?

I love the classic imagery of a wimpy Steve, saddened by the army's rejection, then not knowing what he is gettting into, being taken by mysterious agents into that dusty old curio shop in the cover of night. It's been told and re-told so many times, that I can't say I'd be in favor of anything else but that interpretation. Anyway, we'll see how it shakes out.

As far as anyone has said, it is the classif 4-F story, I think I read somewhere that they were even keeping the cuiro shop and all that jazz for the fans.

Camp Lehigh may take a back seat since they are going into a USO thing, I do wonder how Bucky fits into all that though.

Interestingly enough there was soemthing a kin to the scientific reserve corps during the war, and it was infact populated by 4-F guys and conciencious objectors (I think mostly conciencious objectors).  They mostly subjected the guys to various stress tests to figure out things like, how long a person could go without food, how many calories doe you need to take with you when marching across europe, stuff like that.  There was book that came out about it years ago, it sounded very fascinating.

I wonder if that might be something that gets wraped into the story, They've suggested recently more than one guy in operation rebirth (before Steve is selected as the first and only successful test subject)so a look into the other guys might be interesting.

Yeah, maybe Steve is the only one that can hack it because of his resolve and his big heart. Interesting. I really hope they keep the curio shop scene, it wouldn't be the same without it.
