We've been giving advice on how to make a good Cap movie, so I thought I'll give my advice as a fan to enjoy the Cap movie:

1) Forget Chris Evans, stop reading about him, or pick up a blurb or something small to read about him.  This way it won't be Chris Evans in a red, blue and white suit, it'll be Captain America.  When I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark, I forgot who Harrison Ford was from Empire.
2) Trust Marvel studio: when the description of the script was 'Rocketeer meets Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Saving Private Ryan'.
3) Trust Marvel studio2: They learned their lesson with past Captain America projects--like with the Incredible Hulk movie, fans wanted Hulk to smash and fight a bad guy, thats what they gave us.
4)  Hardest thing to do:  Don't expect a Must-see or Oscar winning or 500 million success movie.  This is Steve Rogers joining the army, becoming Captain America, fighting the Red Skull and going to war.  Put too much thought and nit pick on little things, will ruin the movie (Usually if the movie isn't good or compelling, all these problems like mistakes and plot holes pop up).
5)  Keep fingers crossed that this movie won't be like Steel, Catwoman or Elektra (Or Batman and Robin).

I agree, no use worrying...  The only thing that bothers me is that I read the director said Cap wouldn't be overly patriotic, it would be more international.  Yuck.

I really hope they incorporate the very first issue of Cap, with him on the cover punching Red Skull. It could almost be a gimmick, like after Rogers becomes Cap, the US Army PR machine creates this propaganda comic and shows it to Cap. He hates it (from what I've read of the director's take on Steve Rogers) and wants nothing to do with the comic or a uniform that makes him feel like a clown and a mascot. Anyway, seeing that #1 cover would be so dope!

This is gonna be a train wreck, I can feel it.

Not necessarily, let's put it this way, if the movie doesn't meet our expectations, well, so what?
We'll still be loving Captain America and we'll still be loving America, won't we?

I've been reading comments about the movie for more than a year now and all I read was doubts, fears and criticisms, it's just a movie after all, it's not like the future of the free world depends on it...

I mean, I like Cap as much as the next fan, not to mention my love and pride for the USA, but again, it's just a movie...

The 90s movie was a trainwreck.  Jurassic Park 3, Jumanchi, Wolfman, Rocketeer, at least Johnson knows how to make movies.  If you saw Ubi Boll's movies (Bloodrayne, Dragon siege), you'll know what I'm ranting about.

Another hope:  Star Trek.  I knew almost everything about Star Trek, familar with the original cast, saw every ST movies (except Generations) in the theatres, went to some of the cons, and all the tv shows, ...YET I was blown away by the new Star Trek movie.  I expected a fun and good movie, but it turned out better than I expected.  Saw it twice in the theatres, 6 times on Dvd, and I'm still recommending it to all my friends.  I'm hoping for the same effect when I go see the Cap movie.

My dad had the opposite effect from the Star Trek movie. He was a huge fan, knew all the episodes of the orginal series by heart, has a large collection of Star Trek stuff and was even going to name me after Captain Kirk, yet the new movie was a complete disappoint to him because of the big difference from the series and the movie. I'm afraid the Captain America will have a similar effect on me and because I'm such a fan, I'll be very disappointed if the character of Steve Rogers has been messed with.

I'd been wondering this myself. I can see them doing the classic narration showing various newspapers and that "photo" being on the cover of one of them. I think that'd be a cool way to do it, or show an action sequence and then kind of flash like a photograph. That sorta thing. It can be done and it would be really cool too.

There was Star Wars.  I loved the first 3 movies back in the 70s and 80s, and when Phantom Menace came out, ...I was greatly dissappointed.  Still, that race scene was cool, but Jar Jar, 3 years of making that movie and it took me 3 seconds to dislike that character.

Can't please everyone, but let's hope for the best.
