According to Digital Trends, the Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger will be shot in 2-D but converted to 3-D afterwards.
Also, expect the directors of both movies along with the cast at next week's Comic-Con (panel is late afternoon on Saturday).

I wasted money on Avatar in 3-D, not this.

I'm more worried about Cap than Thor.
Cap hasn't shot yet, so they can storyboard it to make use of 3-D, Thor is basicly hopping on the band wagon as a gimmik, which means that they won't be using 3-D to it's full potential.
Honestly, I am far more worried about Thor than I am about Cap.

This 3d crap is for the birds. I have yet to be impressed by anything i`ve seen in 3d. It all looks just as good flat. Show me a fully dimensional hologram, like in Star Trek, and then i`ll be impressed.

If you wish to guage the success of 3D, check out Clash of the Titans box office take in North America. I saw it and I just thought it was a good decent Action movie, not up there in the Must-see category. It was converted to 3D before release. Did Clash make more money than Prince of Persia? I haven't seen Prince, but one newspaper critic said it was like Clash but with more humor.
But when Clash of the Titans goes to TV and Dvd, it won't have things pointing out at you when you're watching it. That was the main problem with movies made for 3D converted to 2D, like Jaws 3D and Friday the 13th 3D, there were things pointing out at you and body parts floating across the screen, which looked stupid, silly and derailed from the story.
I saw Avatar, like Clash, okay story, action, enjoyable etc, but not a must-see. 3D helped to make you forget that this is a computer generated cartoon--the only advantage. Still didn't stop illegally copied Dvds from popping up.

Not more post-converted 3-D, please! The 3-D is primitive and minimal, and barely covers 20 minutes of a film, and it's done not by technology and artistic skills, but through plain and simple labour, resulting in something that doesn't look too good, and just saves costs and earns easy money by the 3-D surcharge. I've worked on Clash of the Titans, and the experience wasn't particularly good. I'd prefer the Fusion Camera (that's what Green Lantern may get) or better yet, no 3-D at all. We enjoyed The Matrix, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Inception that way.
Stereo 3-D is at its best with movies that are predominantly CG. That's what made Avatar, Up and How to Train Your Dragon such remarkable movies, and also remarkable advances in technology. It's almost impossible to do the same with live-action, no matter how much work goes into it.

It's not a gimmick if they do it right. I think it could be awesom think about the shield flying right out of the screen, The final scene of cap falling into theenglish channel, and floating down, evnetually being locked in ice.
Visually it could be quite stunning. But as I previously mistyped, Thor is the one to worry about since they are kind of jumping on the band wagon and didn't design the flim's dynamic to relate to the 3D environment.

You all will still have the choice to watch it in 2D, so get over it. The blu ray will be 2D and that will live until 3D TVs take over the world at some point. Until then, enjoy the choice offered by multiple formats. __________________I want a giant penny and a lifesize T-Rex statue in my high tech basement.

I probably won't do 3-D anything until Phantom Menace comes back to theaters.

I hate 3D. I think it makes movies look overly dark, and it's just a bothersome distraction. I regretted seeing even Avatar, the paragon of 3D, in that format. As far as I'm concerned, the tech just isn't there yet. And the fact that they actually charge MORE for 3D? Ridiculous. I'd pay more for 2D.
