once your done with that, let your sexy blue helmet sit for at least 12 hours so all the paint dries totally! (if you mess up the base painting, don't worry. wipe out the bad area and just paint it again till ya get it how you like it.)
Detailing: don't use a sticker my man! paint it up! your gonna need white, red and black acryllic paint markers! (wal-mart. cheap) ok, to do the "A", put the helmet on your noodle and stand in the mirror. just draw a rough A on it to get your centering and desired size correct. take off the bucket. Bubble out the letter by going about a half inch either side of each scratch line. don't worry if it's messy on the edges. if you look at the pic sam posted, you'll notice a black border around the 'A". that is to mask the rough spots. just mess with it till ya get it right. if you mess it up, wipe it out and do it again.
ok, i put the red circle and stripes on the back like he had in 'ultimate avengers". this is totally optional. If you choose to do it, take the cap off a large pill bottle. use it as a stencil for your circle. use any flat edge to do the striping. i used my F.O.P. card. lol! i freehanded the star but if you want to be safe, just print one out and stencil it. the circle gets painted red, the star and striping are white. use the paint markers for prescision. again, border everything in black so it's smooth like miles davis!
The leather straps i just ripped off one of my fiancees old purses but you can find em at any fabric store. just be sure they are no thicker than one ince. apply them with wood glue! it's strong enough to hold em on but you can still rip it off if you mess up and need to re-apply. NO CRAZY GLUE! you get one shot with that. if you use crazy glue and you mess up, kiss your paint job goodbye.
Dell Rusk, If you want to do this with battle damage, follow all the above but when you spraypaint, use a silver instead of blue. take strips of masking tape and lay them on wax paper. take a razor and cut the hell out of the tape till you have slivers. after you paint the helmet silver, lay the slivers of tape everywhere on the bucket. paint the entire thing up. then, very carefully, peel all the tape slivers off. you should wind up with nice silver dings all over your helmet. for added effect, scratch it up a bit with sandpaper and smudge black acryllic on your fingers and grub it up!
good luck! any other questions, just ask.
